I'm not into whataboutism, but bad pitch sequencing led to all three Houston runs

Was it bad sequencing or bad execution?  SWR absolutely hung that pitch to Bregman.  A good hitter is going to punish that pitch more times than not.

Sounds like Julien is getting sent down. Hopefully he figures it out quickly - I love his energy.

Miranda would have been the obvious option to be demoted when Lewis was initially placed on the IL. However there's absolutely no way Rocco can leave him out of line up right now, let alone demote him. Assuming it is Julien who is demoted, he needs to look at how hard Miranda has worked to get back on track. It also goes to show how much infield depth we have and that's not even including Brooks Lee, who is also on the way back from injury.

So who televised the game?  Came in to catch the last half the of the game only to discover the $120 per month I pay Direct Stream didn’t include this game. Unreal.

ROKU channel had it for free

If Julien is going down, who will be the every day 2b?   Farmer?   I agree with this being the choice for a demotion, but wonder on lineup construction?

Miranda can play 2B (played it a lot in the minors and it was his personal preference), Castro is an option there, plus Farmer vs LHP.

I still think Margot would have been the right choice to part ways with, but this front office strongly prefers not to lose an asset unless they absolutely have to as they maintain depth against injuries (understandable considering how OF injuries ruined a season for this franchise a couple of years ago, but I would argue you can take it too far...and that maybe they have).

Simeon Woods Richardson had a really good game.

I am not saying he had a bad game, but any game where your ERA is 6.23 you go less than half the game should never be considered a really good game.

It was a great win, a great series win and overall a great week for the good guys. Now if a few of the Twins like Kepler and Buxton would start helping the lineup again and with Lewis back this could be a super fun ride.

Jeffers executed the bunt to put Margot in scoring position for Miranda. That keeps him off my bad list.

So now we blame catchers not named Vazquez for pitch calling vs the execution of the pitches by said pitcher.

Willi vs. right handed pitching. Probably Farmer against southpaws. One of Lewis, Miranda, Santana, Kirilloff or Larnach will sit against righties.

Castro probably starts in the OF against lefties and moves to second when Farmer gets pinch-hit for.

Huge intense series win to start road trip!!! Astros are good team despite being under .500 getting Royce back will be huge. Julian had to be sent down!!  Way to many called 3rd strikes with bat on his shoulder. June sets up nicely with schedule as well. Let’s see if twins can go 5-1 rest of trip and claw their way back into central division lead!!! Let’s go Twins!!!

So if Jeffers pitch calling leads to 3 runs today. Does Vasquez take it on the chin for 5 runs yesterday? No but he gets praised for throwing out 2 runners. Oh and his GIDP when they were trying to come back. You can pick every player apart. After every game. What did Buxton do today? His catch in CF wasn't all that difficult. Alvarez play in LF was better. Where were Castro and Kepler today? And I'm not a big Jeffers fan. But to call him out for The Bad??? Thielbar too. Alvarez when he goes hot. No one gets him out.

Agree about nobody getting Alvarez out ……I think the Thielbar comment refers to broad problems historically & potentially more going forward in key spots.

I do think the Catcher pitch calling issues are a “group effort”. Meaning the coach & Catcher & Pitcher are mostly on the same page. They get together between nearly every inning. I’m not in love with the calls for certain pitches either through the season but the pitcher can shake it off OR execute. (Also, there are 140 to 175 pitches thrown per game - lots of chances for 3-4 bad choices or poor execution - they’re human) Typically, more about where the pitch is thrown v. what pitch is thrown.

IMO, Farmer for sure v. southpaws, or he shouldn’t be on the roster. Can’t imagine Kirilloff or Larnach sitting v. RH pitching anytime soon!………..seems Santana will be the odd guy out v. RH pitching, much more often.

Kirilloff at 1B - Larnach in LF - Castro at 2B - Miranda at DH……….v. RH pitching would seem to be the regular line-up.

What an interesting position the Team could be in, IF, Wallner & Julien & Lee all come together over next 3-6 weeks…..hoping for tough decisions!

Unless somebody gets hurt during a game, I can’t imagine Miranda at 2B!

Castro regularly v. RH pitching with Farmer v. LH pitching AND more innings in 2nd half of games as needed/appropriate for Farmer. I think this is a two - four week opportunity for Farmer to get in the mix or he may be gone in July. He & Vazquez have improved contact and aren’t getting very good fortune but at some point the numbers are what they are & a change will come. I think Farmer steps up!!

I wasn't finished.

Roughned Odor, Clint Frazier, Tyler Wade, Mike Ford, Andrew Velasquez, Jay Bruce, Estevan Florial, Gary Sanchez, Josh Donaldson, Thairo Estrada, Erik Kratz, and frequently DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres.

Ask any Yankees fan, the problem with the team since 2019 has been the lack of lineup depth behind Judge. They scored under 700 runs last year. They are doing better this year because the role players are hitting a little better in addition to Soto being Soto, but mainly they are pitching their brains out.

Your examples of how many PAs the Yankees give to poor offensive players are Torres, Rizzo, Stanton and LeMahieu??

They have certainly had injury issues over the past several years, but c'mon. Nice use of 2023 runs scored, BTW. You missed 807 in 2022, and how about this year?

Castro started slow like just about everyone else.  However, since the win streak started (4/22) Casro's wRC+ is 143.  That's certainly worthy of being a regular starter.  It does, however, take away from the team's defensive flexibility.    It will work out fine if he plays LF against LHP because Larnach can come in when Farmer goes out and Castro moves to 2B.  The weakness is CF when Buxton is out.

First rule here is to say Vazquez is the greatest defender ever and his hitting is irrelevant....
