Natron Verified Member Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 I'm heading down to Fort Myers in a couple of weeks.... Does anybody know the name of the place where Balazovic got punched in the face last season? I know it was some place downtown, but I don't think I ever saw which place it was, It seems like a must-see for any lifelong Twins fan! wabene Verified Member Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 In boxing an unseen punch can be more devastating, denting even the iron chinned. There may be some in the clubhouse who know what really happened. Twins Daily not so much.

tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Don't knock a good bar fight. The best "bar" fight I was ever in was while I was serving in the Army in Korea. My infantry company, C Company, got into a fight with B Company at the NCO club about 2 miles south of the DMZ.. It was involved 30 drunk 19-22 year old soldiers, knocking over chairs and tables, wrestling and punching in the beer and hamburgers and blood on the concrete floor with no bottles being used as weapons and few punches actually landing. The MP's came and separated our two companies and the MP's only arrested Sgt. Jones from B Company and no one from my company was arrested. As the MP's were taking the handcuffed, bleeding, B Company sergeant out of the NCO Club, I yelled loudly, "Goodnight Sgt. Jones !" And the fight broke out again. It was the most fun I had in my 16 months in Korea. jkcarew and Dave Borton 1 1

When there was a bar fight at our enlisted club, we flyboys went out the back door before the MPs hit the front one; the Squids hid under the tables. The ring? Green Berets and Marine recon boys trying to determine who could end up w/more guys in the brig. tarheeltwinsfan 1

ashbury Verified Member Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Ya know, after all this joshing around, I felt a little bad, so I gave it a try to see if I could find any info online. But best I can do is "an establishment in downtown Fort Myers," which you already know, in this article from the Strib: https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-twins-pitcher-jordan-balazovic-jaw-punch-spring-training-fort-myers/600255197/ Cruise all the bars in downtown Ft Myers, bordered approximately by Bay St and Main St,, Hendry and Broadway/Dean - if you find yourself near the Goodwill Industries store you'll know you've found the right location for fun. I used Yelp and located about 30 possibles - based on the name, I'd give the Cowboy Up Saloon a try first. Good luck trying to get lucky like Jordy B did. 😀 glunn 1

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 I do approve of the "satiable curtiosity" in this thread, although it being the americas, i suppose the operative question perhaps pertains to alligators? (that's the way tricolored boa constrictors always talk...)
Boswell Verified Member Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 I’d think a decently-tipped bartender would be able to help you on your expedition to either document baseball history or find some ballplayers out on the town. Naz Reid. Richie the Rally Goat and ashbury 2

Naz Reid. The Truth Is Out There! By the way, if the OP does the "investigative research" we are joking about, I hope he thinks twice about bringing the name of the place breathlessly to this thread. There are many who know, including law enforcement and the team and probably various journalists, and they've kept their mouths shut. Some kind of ethics could be at play here, and it might harm someone not at fault for the word to get out. Conversely it's hard to think of anything in the public interest that demands the information be revealed. Maybe I'm just stating the obvious. It's just, who doesn't like a good mystery?
