Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I’ve seen this movie about 50 times so far this year. Early lead (albeit small), opponent threatens, cuts into the lead, offense goes to sleep against a mediocre pitcher, bullpen comes in and…..
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I really wish, unless there was an indication of tiredness, that Ryan went another inning.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 It’s just bizarre that our pitchers turn into pumpkins at that fifth inning mark. Even the better ones frequently can’t even give 6

I know it’s not about pitch counts anymore but it sure seems like the magic number has decreased from 100 to 80, at least on our team

TwinsDr2021 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 What is even more strange he only faced 18, which is even low for the Twins. Guess that answers the question from the other thread, he is a lower half of the rotation guy. Edit - didn't see the two hit batters, so 20 is right on par, if it was the 4th I believe they would let him come out for the 5th in this situation
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Please disregard the man behind the curtain.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Harold Castro is Ted Williams against the twins it seems
Parfigliano Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Im getting really tired of starters getting pulled after 5 innings and sub 80 pitches. They are delusional thinking the bullpen can go 4 innings every game.

The team can't limit his pitches because they don't have anyone else to throw, so I wonder if this is how they're trying to do it with him. They've at least shown the willingness to allow Ryan to go deeper, unlike the others in the rotation (which would be to your point).

They need to get up off their butts and win this game and put and end to the Tigers winning against them. That's not right, it's lost 6 of last 10. We've only lost 6 games total against them and have beat them 9 times so far.

mickster Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Ryan throw 100 once this year. No watching or listening just following along online, but why was he pulled.

If you have a shaky 5th you’re coming out pretty much regardless of anything else. Awfully hard to expect a guy to not have a shaky inning

wavedog Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Well Tigers, thanks for taking out Alexander after 66 pitches
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Twins have the 5th most bullpen IP this year

Awfully hard to expect a guy to not have a shaky inning I honestly don't think it has anything to do with inning or pitch count, he faced 20 guys, all the starters on the twins average right around 21 batters per game. Except Archer and he is below, All the top pitchers in the league average 24-26 as game.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I get that Ryan hasn't pitched much the last three years, so I'm ok with the decision. I just don't love it. They'll need him to start more than a few more games this year....
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Well, I guess that shows where Garlick is at healthwise and what the team thinks of Beckham in LF.
