Now they're going into their playoff run without their stud closer? I get that Rogers and Lamet have high rebound value... but I wouldn't be happy to be a Brewers fan. Hader had a bad month. Maybe they think it is the downturn time

Big names mostly due to draft position and a sketchy ability to play SS. Neither has any power and both are struggling this year. I'd have done that trade for two controllable relievers. Though this might be the first time I've heard about Zach Pop.

If true, this makes no sense to me, unless they literally just don't want Hosmer on the team under any circumstances.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Jeurys Familia was dumped? Color me interested. He's got a .408 BABIP this year. That doesn't seem sustainable.

Rogers and Lamet seem like damaged goods and the two minor leaguers they got have never been top 100 players on any prospect list. This is eerily similar to the Paddack / Pagan for Rogers trade
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I’m actually quite surprised they made some solid moves. I didn’t expect them to add a starter and 2 relievers.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Jordan Montgomery for Harrison Bader. Too bad the Twins OF got so beat up; I’d have done that for Kepler if Kirilloff/Larnach were playing.
weitz41 Verified Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 One thing I wonder about is if we all think about is if these trades are getting players closer to playing in the big leagues. Today we traded a bunch of 2nd base and 3rd base prospects. A few pitchers also. The league minimum is likely life changing amount of $ for them and many others. Maybe we lost a couple of all-stars today...But their families just gained a couple. I'm just trying to say I hope we gained as great of players to root for as we've lost. Best of luck to the new Twins and to the guys I'm sure we'll talk about in the future.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 I'm kind of surprised about who didn't get traded. How are Contreras and Happ still with the Cubs? The D-Backs All-Star Mantiply also comes to mind as someone who should have been moved. What are the Nats going to do with Nelson Cruz? The Braves added Jake Odorizzi, Robby Grossman and Ehire Adrianza--wow an ex-Twins trifecta!

Imo, it's better to trade guys than get another pick, but I'm no GM.

You'd have to think their asking prices were just too high, although I don't think the return they got for Robertson was very good. Happ is still under contract for next year, but I think we saw around the league, that rental players aren't fetching as much as they used to, it's better to move them when there's still a year and a half of control left. Knowing that Contreras is staying, it seems weird that they didn't at least trade Yan Gomes. Multiple back up catchers went, but he might have been better than all of them.
