Smeltzer's start to the season was fantastic and badly needed when the pitching staff was absolutely in shambles, but there's a reason he cleared waivers this off-season and didn't make the bullpen out of spring training even with his good numbers. He doesn't get any swings and misses even against lefties, and gives up way too many home runs.

MadBum is only 32, turning 33 in August. And looks so washed up. It’s amazing how much he’s outperforming his FIP and every under the hood measurement.

Just to dispute a couple of themes that Bremer has been hammering. Going into today, Buck was hitting .173 with an OPS in the .700s when DHing and while the D-Backs have a low team batting average, they trail the Twins by only 21 runs in runs scored.

Double, triple, and even homer your efforts; I hope so — for everyone’s sake!

It could have even been worse. Smeltzer just felt sorry for himself after his horrible throw, and didn't even back up the throw to the plate, and just stood their with his hands on his knees.
