The bullpen "imploding" shouldn't be all that surprising. The numbers have been fairly good (largely thanks to two guys, Smith and Duran), but they've been facing some absolutely lifeless teams for over half the season. Without Alcala, they simply have too many guys who are nothing more than middle relievers.

The Royals have followed a trend of incorrect names on jerseys for players named after their fathers. The player's last name is Witt. His last name is not Witt Jr. The Jr. is part of his given name, not his surname.

Baseball in the ‘20s. Smeltzer did his job and then some. He certainly will get another start. It would have been nice to get a W. It doesn’t change the fact he had a great outing.

How many times in the last week alone have we seen Rocco send a reliever out there with a winnable game and just leave them out to dry when they clearly showed they didn't have it? Winder a week and a half ago. Cano last time out against KC. Duffey tonight. There is ZERO reason he should've been in the game after the Royals tied the game up.

That was an abysmal inning, and I can't argue Rocco isn't at fault (using Duffey there isn't egregious, but you had to get him out of there faster)... but we shouldn't expect to win games when only scoring 2 runs against the likes of the Royals and Tigers. Offense needs to step it up.

Thought they would have pinch run for Sanchez when he reached based.  If Gordon was the runner maybe he would have scored on Arraez's single.

But why do the bats get let off the hook?  They haven't added on to leads.  Two runs doesn't win often against anyone.  That's not getting it done either.  It's a team game.  Both aspects need to improve and do better.
