If he takes Sanchez out of the game, he needs to put Jeffers in at catcher. Thus losing the DH.

Agreed, but it was the 8th inning and he PH for Jeffers anyway.

In this case Gordon became the DH when he pinch hit for Jeffers, who was DHing. No player who is playing in the field can be moved to DH. If the DH is moved to the field the team loses the DH and the pitcher (or a pinch hitter) has to bat from that point on.

Sigh. Speed may be THE BIGGEST asset Buxton brings to the table, and you just have him stand on 1st with no outs in the 9th inning of a 1 run game.

It doesn't come up that often, I don't think it's worth having a 3rd catcher on the roster.  The real answer is have better hitters on the bench so Ryan Jeffers (or Gary Sanchez) isn't DHing very often if ever.

It was Jhon Romero, but he's on the IL. I have nothing to base this off of, but I assume it would be Nick Gordon.
