It’s fun, we don’t need to win ‘em all Yep, when we lose the division or miss the playoffs by 2 games, they can point to several games just like this one. I'm sure all teams do this once in a while, but the Twins are forfeiting games once a week.

The owner Tootsie is in her 90s and still working in the pit smoking the meat! Dallas eats: Keller’s Drive In - hole in the wall place for over 50 years but great burgers. Cash only. Pecan Lodge - Good BBQ joint in a cool neighborhood with breweries and a vodka distillery in walking distance Austin eats: BBQ: J Blacks, Stiles Switch, Franklins. Franklins you’ll have to start standing in line by 7 AM. Chili: Texas Chili Parlor, Valentina’s Tex-Mex (has brisket chili ?) Can add Black's BBQ to the recommended list.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Megill's brother started out hot for the Mets. I believe he's hit the injured list.

Had some of these on the list, so good to know we were on the right track. Will look into the others.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I thought Cano looked good his first few outings, but yikes, this was a disaster.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 It's that MOY form getting all lathered up. Making all the right decisions. Lineup, and bullpen usage. I will never understand throwing away games, or conceding runs. Compromized defense at third, short, first, catcher, left field, and center. Maybe one at a time might be a better plan.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 What in the world is Megill doing? You're down 6 runs. Just get the out.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Man, just last half inning we had a chance to lead. Now we’ll be lucky to keep this within single digits
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Whatever happened to running right at the runner that we all learned in little league?
Parfigliano Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 WTF was that? Even guys on field are taking day off

Besides that there are a lot of good BBQ and taco places.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 100 mph on one fastball. We've seen opponents make boneheaded plays. It's apparently the Twins' turn. I just saw Megill bend a breaking ball over the plate. If he can do that and throw 98-100 he might have a future.
CRF Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Ober comes off the IL...pitches great for the most part...and takes it up the you-know-what because his manager decides to brain fart his way through the entire game process today. Thanks Rocco!
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Megill probably isn't good, but it's nice to see us bringing up a minor league depth guy who throws 96-100 with capable big league stuff rather than a slop tosser.

I've spent about two weeks in Austin this year. We walked into a couple of hole-in-the-wall barbeques walking around downtown and the food was excellent.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 55 pitches by Cano (38) and Megill (17) in the inning. I had to laugh when Dick said that Kepler made a diving catch. Fine catch, but it was more like a apologetic stumbling fall before you hit the wall catch, than a diving effort,
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Only the second triple by the entire team this year, both by Gordon.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Miranda has a LOT of La Tortuga in him.

Would you prefer to stagger the resting players throughout the week to leave the team at 80% potency each and every night? Or like tonight, you roll the dice with the subs, and maybe have a competitive game, which it was until we reached the bullpen. Oh that's right, you assumed robots. Injury-immune, always top-notch automatons.

Montdak Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 Just went over the fifty pitch mark to get two outs. New pitcher up from the minors proves up with a bonehead defensive play. Why didn’t Rocco take Cano out when the left hander comes up with BL? Cuz he likes to leave a guy in pitching right-handed when he can’t throw strikes and is over forty pitches to get one out? Bang zoom three runs. The whole day shaped up to be like a forfeit.

That seems to be a Twins tradition.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I think Cano probably will be in St. Paul, maybe as soon as tomorrow. He's got to throw more strikes. Hitters can afford to be more selective when they're ahead on the count. Megill certainly throws hard enough. He needs to throw enough strikes and get more than the fastball over. Still, he has a chance, I think.
