When you rest your best two hitters (fine, we already won the series and they're both going to get days off), you can not afford to waste opportunities and the Twins have done that twice in the 1st and 5th innings.

I don't get giving Buxton and Correa the day off at the same time. We know Buxton is apparently going to sit 1/3 of his games this year. We all hate it but we try and have some compassion and understanding about it, and I suppose most of us can at least begin to accept it.

But how about a little basic strategy? If your best player must sit, ensure your 2nd best player is in the lineup in order to give you the best chance that day. If Correa must sit, make sure Buxton is playing on his off day to give you the best chance that day.

Is it that hard?

Also, this Cano guy hasn't been very good at all and looks like he needs more time at AAA. Like, another whole season.

If Gardy, TK, and Jabba the Hut had a baby

That'd be one hell of a 23 and Me test result.

Again, the Twins have 2 relievers who can absolutely be trusted in high leverage. One throws like a softball player, and the other cannot/will not be allowed to throw on b2b days. Jax, Duffey, and Pagan are all fine medium leverage options, but they have too many guys who don't really have business throwing in a close game. The front office cannot afford to sit on their hands until the last week of July to address the issue. Eventually we won't be facing the A's, Royals, Tigers, and Orioles every single week.

Vanimal, I’m heading to Texas next week to re-check Texas off the stadium list. Food recommendations in the Dallas-Austin-San Antonio corridor? We’re calling it the Take a Tums Tour, so I’m looking for BBQ and chili.

Snow’s BBQ on Saturday - admittedly out of the way of Austin (in Lexington, TX) but worth the drive. The owner Tootsie is in her 90s and still working in the pit smoking the meat!

Dallas eats:

Keller’s Drive In - hole in the wall place for over 50 years but great burgers. Cash only.

Pecan Lodge - Good BBQ joint in a cool neighborhood with breweries and a vodka distillery in walking distance

Austin eats:

BBQ: J Blacks, Stiles Switch, Franklins. Franklins you’ll have to start standing in line by 7 AM.

Chili: Texas Chili Parlor, Valentina’s Tex-Mex (has brisket chili ?)

San Antonio not quite as familiar but I have been to Chachos and that did not disappoint.

If you're going to forfeit the game, why play the game anyway and waste everyone's time?

Well, that probably does it for this game. Goal coming into this 15 game stretch was 9-6 at a minimum, with 10-5 being the goal. Had a chance to gain ground on that, but we're still on pace. Losing this game was fairly likely throwing out the C lineup and Ober making his first MLB start in a while.

I like when our manager just gives games away. It’s fun, we don’t need to win ‘em all

This is just another WTF Roc special!

My goodness what's Cano still doing in this game?

You can bet on Cano being sent down at the end of this game.

Here comes the rock head. How in the world does a reliever last long enough to give up 5 runs when he enters a one run game? Rocky’s computer must have told him it would work out better

I was told by a TD writer that he has been perfect with bullpen management and has been giving Twins fans the finger. I promise you he won't write about this disaster. 2nd game in the last week that Rocco has just given away (against a bad team that you always have a chance to beat no matter what your lineup looks like) by leaving a reliever out to dry. We saw it with Winder, and we just saw it with Cano. Absolutely baffling to straight up punt on any game, whether it's May or September.
