Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 We should do a lot better, for we get to put on the soon packed 40 man.
GoMNTwins Verified Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Now this is the frontline starter they so desperately need. Especially if they play the season in 2015.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Slots in nicely behind Bundy. ..
4twinsJA Verified Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Not excited about Cueto, but don't think Twins are looking for long term solution. Twins have plenty of pitchers that will be pushing for time at MLB level this year, At this point, I would be happy with Pineda, and have Dobnak as 5th starter or Winder if he has a strong spring training. Would rather see innings go to young pitcher than pitcher trying to stretch their career one more year.

LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 It wouldn’t surprise me if the twins plan now for the rotation is to try to sign Cueto and Pineda, and then start the season with the rotation of those two, Bundy, Ober, and Ryan. The long-term idea might be to use this year to find two or more guys presently in the minors ready to start in the majors, cull the three veterans down to one or two for next year, and have an all “young pitcher“ rotation by 2024. Cueto fits that timeline well. It’s not my first choice but it does fit in with what I think is the actual strategy.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 13, 2022 Author Posted March 13, 2022 I can't say I'm terribly impressed by the Twins' apparent desire to sign three decent "third options" to fill the rotation. It's as if they fail to realize decent third options are only decent if you sign a first and second option, too.
