brycenation Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Rocco would tell Sir Rodney "I'll put you in only if you promise not to lay one down the third base line" Analytics say play for the big inning.....
insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 TWins have only 3 more chances to stop making Cobb look like Cy Young. Anyone think they are engaged in this game
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Sir, you need to drink something stronger if you are a Twins fan

Speaking of, I was at a high school game this week and nearly saw my first 2-5-3 putout on a dropped third strike. Runner on second, one out, 1-2 count. Runner tries to steal, ball is in the dirt, but batter swings. Catcher comes up clean and tries to throw out the runner at third. Runner will be safe easily, so third baseman comes off the base and fires to first, nearly getting the relatively slow batter/runner.
brycenation Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Since down under they use KPH the radar gun in Perth would be lit up at 142....
insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Twins actually need to just yield the last 6 outs and rest up for game 2. This is too painful to watch.

This was the nugget that stuck out to me: "According to FanGraphs, they are the worst clutch-hitting team in the league, producing 2.9 fewer wins than we’d expect from their context-neutral stats simply by underperforming in high-leverage situations."

Three wins just from clutch hitting and we’re only in the middle of May. Woof.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Why bother to replace Thorpe for the fifth?

The Twins are in the middle of a long stretch, this is a seven inning game, and the offense is lifeless. Write this one off and try again in a few hours.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Duffey is no longer on the 'reliable' list. But the score doesn't matter anymore. Twins are going thru the motions.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Well that does game one. Pretty uninspiring start by thorpe who was once again sitting in the 80s rather than the 90s and didn’t have the command necessary to succeed throwing that slow. Defense was ugly, and the at bats were downright piss poor against a bad starter. Pretty much what we’ve come to expect with this years team, but still upsetting.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Duffey throwing batting practice. A common sight.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Honestly have some pride in your performance - this is an embarrassing display yet again. Thorpe should have finished this out - he was at 63 pitches.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Safe. Donaldson continues to do wonders for the Angels offense.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Duffey trying to get his fastball under Thorpe's. Going for under 90. Should have just served his suspension and saved us the misery.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Dozier would always reach for the chest too.

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Uhh...the umpires must’ve felt bad for us?
insagt1 Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 7-1 and you're worried about this play????
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 At least we weren't preparing to bat when the review came back.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I actually thought they were bringing in Duffey to hit Gosselin since he had 4 RBI's against us. Figured he is our new designated plunker.
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Why take Cobb out - he had retired 12 hitters in a row and had 57 pitches?
wavedog Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Guess they want to boost some of their others pitchers confidence.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Where we at? We need to plate 6+ runs in 5 outs?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Here's your friendly reminder that the Angels are the only team in the AL to give up more runs than the Twins... even after today they've still given up 11 more runs than we have. How can our hitters be this bad?!
