ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 the sirens are preferable to the woos thoughOh my god yes.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 we have to ride with big mike all the way if need be
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I have come to despise the shift. It's just one small aspect that makes baseball less fun to watch than it was in the past.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 What if the siren was just a recording of woos?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 In 2021 is it necessary to have a WWII era siren to warn people of tornadoes? Probably as long as we still have WWII era people who don't have a smart phone on them constantly.

Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 So Little Caesar's has a commercial, where they imagine the executives of a rival pizza chain on a private jet admitting they could match LC's price, but they'd have to fly commercial. Which is pretty funny when you realize that the founder and CEO of LC made so much freaking money he could buy a baseball team.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Add: This was my favorite Night Gallery mini-episode when I was a kid. Anyone else recall it? It's funny. About a hipster who dies and in hell he has to listen to geezer music for all eternity.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Sirens back in my day.I would post something from "the odyssey" but I don't feel like it
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Author Posted April 15, 2021 Is that a siren going off due to Sano's hit?
jkcarew Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I don't live in Minnesota, has this ever siren thing ever happened before?Nightly.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I'm actually optimistic about Sano, after looking closer. His OBP is .285, despite a .105 babip--that can't possible stay that low. If the babip hits even .200, and Sano maintains his current approach (only swinging at 25.5% of pitches out of the zone, while making close to career average contact), he should normalize to a useful hitter, although probably not a true middle of the order one. That's even better than improving his BABIP!!!!!!
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 wait til they move the mound back 1'. think games are long now?It will be hard to backtrack game length much; what baseball should focus on doing is bringing the action back into the game. A 3.5 hour game is manageable if balls are flying around, fielders are diving, and runners are moving. Time moves more quickly if the audience is engaged in what's happening. A 3.5 hour game is not manageable if each plate appearance takes two minutes, strikeouts happen 40% of the time, and any balls in play are hit directly into a shift.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Sirens back in my day. Come on Chief, you're not fooling anyone. The Sirens from your day are below (bonus--I'm pretty sure that's you tied to the mast!)
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Sano'ing again. edit: Ninja'd by 98% of TD membership.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I had a chat with Sano prior to his AB behind home. Told him he needs to hit a HR or I would streak the field. I’m playing my part at the game!

I would love to see an experiment with only 8 fielders, and all homeruns count for only one run, and automatically end the inning (unless it's of the inside the park variety).
