MVP Nick Punto Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Eyy, a head-first slide to first that would make my namesake proud.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I like the aggressive call too. Of the angles they showed, the most informative was the one that required a transparent umpire... We got us some exciting baseball, that's for sure!

bighat Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Agree on sending Rosie there. Out by a whisker on a perfect relay, just good baseball.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 That play reminds me I want to ask if anyone really understands the rule about catchers blocking home plate. This photo on the StarTrib site shows Buxton scoring the winning run the other night. The catcher had the ball in his mitt but had just caught it; nevertheless his left leg was clearly blocking the plate and had obviously been blocking it before the ball arrived. https://www.startribune.com/byron-buxton-mitch-garver-put-on-injured-list-by-twins/572174902/

The runner wasn’t there yet either, so he can be there

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Dropping in late, at my dad's house for our normal Thursday night, and watching the game...sorta. lol. Sorry I don't have time to "like" a bunch of great posts! I agree with sending Eddie on that play, and too close to overturn, but I firmly believe he got a finger in there to be safe.
