If our pitchers are only going to pitch a couple of innings anyway, we could use the DH for Buxton and pinch hit for the pitcher every time.

Those 3 innings were not fun to watch

 

But they were quick! 45 minutes for three innings = less than 3-hour game.

The Pirates pitcher is a native of Newark, Ohio. When I lived in that fine state, one of the first things I was told that it's a single syllable, pronounced Nerk. That is all.

One time during my 4 years at Ohio State I was with some friends at a bar. This would have been about 1983 or 1984. Someone walked by with a t-shirt that had this on the front of it:

AHIA

 

We saw it and looked among ourselves with puzzled looks until one guy started laughing, and he said, "Nerk, Ahia!" We had to hear it out loud to get it.

When is the last time a Twin walked four guys in one inning?  Liriano probably did it at some point.  That was a Phil Hughes or Carlos Silva season's worth.

Very efficient four walk inning, only one run.

Pretty sure Lewis Thorpe did it this inning.

Twins gonna learn pretty quick that you can't face major league teams with minor league pitchers and expect to win, no matter how good your offense is. What has Lewis Thorpe ever done to make anyone believe he's nothing more than a mop-up guy at best?
