VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Detroit has to go 4 and three to win 50 games this seasonThey took three of four from the Twins at the end of the 2003 season to avoid tying the Mets for the worst record in modern MLB history. Of course, the Twins had already clinched and the Tigers only needed one win to avoid Metropolitanesque infamy.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Any news on Kepler? Heard Baldelli say on the Radio that Kepler was participating in full activities today and they are going to see how he does with that. I'm not sure exactly what "Full Activities" means... I assume it means, he ran, threw, hit, went to parade, ate at a restaurant, searched for metal in the sand with a detector and he made a quilt.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Gotta think if I'm the Tigers FO that I'd be pretty pissed if the team somehow lost the #1 overall pick in next years draft.

The Tigers drafting 2nd would mean a big winning streak to catch the Orioles. For our sake at this moment... We want them drafting first.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 the real question is how long they keep Gardy...
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 the real question is how long they keep Gardy... I don't know if any manager in the history of the game would have had a successful season with this group of players.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 the real question is how long they keep Gardy... Isn't his contract up? Also, Gardy even publicly said that he'd understand if he wasn't back next year.

I was thinking for Max it meant he ate some sauerbraten, took in a soccer game, listened to some house music, and did some daily tasks with ruthless efficiency.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 I hope this game is over by the time 'The Voice' comes on, because, well, it's 'The Voice.'
bighat Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Okay team, let's get some RUNS here in the 4th inning!
bighat Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 With his contact skills... if Rowson can only get him to be more selective. He could become a pretty dynamic hitter pretty quickly. I agree with you!
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Let's look alive offense!
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 the real question is how long they keep Gardy... Expectations have to be light in consideration of the rebuild. Gardy seems to have skills working with his superiors based on his ability to hang on to a job. I think he is around for awhile. To me the question is: What will Gardy do with an actual rebuilding team. We never went through an actual rebuild while Gardy was manager for us. Can he do it... Does it make him the right candidate?

stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Middle innings, time for a big inning.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 OK, what's the Twins record in games where both Rosario and Astudillo walk?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 uh wut?heh ... I was kidding ... sort of ... kind of me saying, this game isn't very exciting, so far
bighat Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Way to be selective, Rosie. Keep taking those walks if they don't throw you strikes!
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 A walk for Eddie and Willians! Wow.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Middle innings, time for a big inning. Rosie just walked... signs of a big inning or hell freezing over?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 A walk for Eddie and Willians! Wow.Wait ... are we still here? The world didn't end?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 BTW, Cave is also struggling mightily since returning from him injury. The lineup isn't quite so deep as it was.
GCTF Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 OK, what's the Twins record in games where both Rosario and Astudillo walk?0-0?
wabene Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Fly ball, Dick's voice rises, my eyebrows arch slightly as I glance at the TV, fielder camped, eh?
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 0-0?Confirmed over 2018 and 2019 seasons. Until tonight, they have not each had a walk in the same game.

I am glad it is not that full moon Friday the 13th of a couple of days ago -- it might have been one of the signs of the Apocalypse.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 man, Jake cannot seem to get away from those high pitch counts.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 I'd argue we were actually rebuilding during his last tenure here whether admitted (or done well for that matter) or not. I won't argue with you... I'll say you were right... It wasn't done well. Rebuilding with guys like Doumit, Clete Thomas, Jamey Carroll and Kevin Correia while suppressing playing time for young players like Arcia, Hicks, Hendriks and Tonkin is certainly a change from the typical formula.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 I hope our team scores runs this inning.
