Sounds like this was planned to keep Perez extended, and limit Pineda after injury.

Bold strategy, Cotton.

Pineda's and Perez's stuff are so different that they seem on paper to be a good pairing. I'm just bothered by Perez's command so far, after being spoiled by Pineda painting the corners repeatedly.

On some level its the right call, but as a fan you hate to see a guy dominating like that get pulled.

I was a little surprised they didn't let him go the 5th inning.

Nice two-strike hit by Buxton.  He looks so much better than last year. *knocks on wood*

With Sano coming back in a few weeks those two guys are going to be huge

Agreed, but I also like the idea of him strong enough to keep dominating right through October.

Come on Perez, you were my pick for our darkhorse pitching MVP.

I think he is going to be awesome this year.  throwing 97 and a lefty to boot is a good thing.

Even when failing to score end the first two games, this team seems much more enjoyable to watch.

Thinking that myself. And to go with that thought, I'd rather hope for hitting to come around than pitching.

I think this team is going to mash a lot of baseballs this summer barring injuries, etc.

Huh, I would have guessed Pineda would at least have been able to go 60 pitches or so... good luck, Perez.

Yeah, keeping Perez stretched out was probabky just as big of a factor as keeping Pineda healthy.

Control didn’t really seem to be Perez’s issue in the past, he was just extremely hittable. His first inning here was shaky, but not from a making contact standpoint. I was more encouraged than discouraged.
