Who fills out the 25-man? Is Trevor May on his way to Minnesota?

There's still an open spot to fill on the 25-man. Who gets it? With Mejia slotted to start in Lynn's place, it's not Gonsalves this time. So ... who is it? Then I saw this tweet:

 

 

Yeah ... I know ... I don't do Twitter. Much. But on occasion, especially during times of activity, I do check in. I wonder if the 'stuff' he's gotta do is get to Minnesota.

 

But if that's not it ... who will fill out the roster?

Sure, why not. He's out of options next season I believe. Better see if he stay healthy and productive in a bullpen role.

Trevor May is the most overrated player in the history of TD. One of my all time favorite myths, is if he had continued to start, he would have been the picture of health. He was always on the DL because those bad, bad people in the FO wouldn't start him. 

 

No way we protect him on the 40 man come November.

And a good choice, I think, with Mejia and Odorizzi on for Wednesday and Friday. May is also a known quantity with Molitor and has a 1.10 ERA in his last 10 games.

No way we protect him on the 40 man come November.

Not a myth.  Just an unverifiable theory one way or the other.   Hopefully his story with the Twins will have a happy ending.   Definitely guys I would take off the 40 man before him depending on how he does in the next couple months.

I get why they called up May but this leaves me unsatisfied. If we are going to tank, let’s tank with calling up Gonsalves now. I expect he’ll struggle, but his struggles this year will be a learning tool for next year when he’ll be counted on more. We can’t rebuild unless we see what our prospects can do. Gonsalves has earned more than “just” a September call up.

May is a relief pitcher. Gonsalves is a starter. I suspect we see Gonsalves before September.

Was getting ahead and then really hitting his spots just outside the zone trying to get batters to chase. He pitched backwards to a few batters, dropping in a breaking ball for strike one.

 

Here's his line this month with Rochester: 9.1 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 K
