sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Topsy Turvy Game Thread intro: Detroit. Not too far from where you go South of the Boarder and wind up in Canada. I forget, do we expect them to pay for a wall? They might at that, if it is shown to improve health. They care. Gardenhire. Is in the other dug out. Maybe i'm a little behind the times... Should i be checking on other fixtures too? Dougie Baseball? Tom Kelly? Where will it all end? Patience. We got prospects learning their craft. Trains don't stop on a dime. And i've seen some of the pennies they've tried to stop on... Bunthorne's Bride. (It's the subtitle for Patience) It is a mildly literary reference. It's a a latter 19th century light opera about the aesthetic movement. And fads in general. There are perhaps unexpected aspects of fads and fandoms, eh? "I didn't anticipate that when i first put this uniform on." Play ball! I got a softball double header i am about to rush off to. Should be fun. Is this a bullpen game thread? I guess so. Take care of it for me. Twins Jake Odorizzi ( R) 1. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B2. Eddie Rosario (L) LF3. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B4. Miguel Sano (R ) DH5. Max Kepler (L) RF6. Mitch Garver ( R) C7. yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 So, if I have followed the ups and downs the last few days correctly, the bench players for today are Grossman, Wilson and Cave. Meaning that the Twins won’t pinch hit for Adrianza late in the game because the only other infielder is the DH.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Got swept in my softball double header. Don't think that means anything regarding the Twins game though. Oh well.
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 The Twins lineup looks like a JV lineup the minute any semblance of quality shows up on the mound. They have feasted on the occasional mistake, but the plate approach has been almost universally atrocious. It goes beyond explanation...

It goes beyond explanation...This is where the Twins have missed Polanco (and more recently Mauer) and his contact approach.
OldTimeTwinkie Provisional Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Sano was totally disinterested in trying to hit a breaking ball.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 This just in: Odorizzi walks too many hitters.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 45 pitches. Just out of second inning. Looks like Magill will get to earn his check tonight.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Woot! Bullpen reinforcements on the way! Matt Belisle is sure to turn this team around!
adorduan Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Why does Odorizzi take so many pitches to get through an inning? Seems like it always takes 20+ ....
bighat Verified Member Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Adrianza and LaMarre. We'll take it!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 Adrianza and LaMarre. We'll take it!Concur.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 Where has Brian been?Batting leadoff and playing second.
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Absolutely horrible job of calling balls and strikes. No excuse for this kind of inconsistency.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Twins winning the all important time of possession battle.
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Nice hustle Kep, fitting of where the team's going
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Quitely, Adrianza has become one of the team's better hitters as of late... of course, that's more due to our hitters being bad, but Adrianza's OPS of .703 is creeping higher and nearing Dozier's .728. With the defense he provides, he's proven to be a capable bench player and not a total liability, but he still shouldn't be starting every day.
BoofBonser Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Sano was totally disinterested in trying to hit a breaking ball.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Wow, just checked in 75 pitches in 3 innings. S'poze this means another dose of the Pressly/Reed gopher balls...
bighat Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Looks like another 1-2 run game tonight for the Twins offense. By the look of the number of posts on this thread, interest in this team has dropped off the cliff. Hard to blame the fans.
adorduan Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 They should tell Odorizzi he's going 6 innings, even if it takes 150 pitches.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 Bad Odor on the mound tonight! Only 4 walks and a hit by pitch in 4 innings. None of which seems to have hurt. It's the single, triple, and sac fly what scored 2 off him.
