Game Thread 5/22/18 7:10 CDT Twins vs Tigers

[Squirrel]

Tonight is also Star Wars Night at Target Field! That is all I have to add.

In honor of that, and Phil Hughes, I give you this:

[Nine of twelve]

I hope Lynn puts up a good start, but truthfully I expect a high scoring game. Throw strikes big man, or you'll be in Hughes spot.

He'll be in Hughes' spot as soon as Santana is activated anyway.

Twins at home against the Tigers

Indians at Wrigley Field

Can only hope The Twins are at least tied in first place by the conclusion of play tomorrow night.

[snepp]

Also how many games or game threads will be on it?

Depends on how many you can (or want) to remember.

[David HK]

Heh....

Just noticing--

Lance Lynn's ERA is the same as the famous wide-bodied airplane--

7.47

Coincidence?

Or poetry?

[David HK]

High scoring on the Tigers side or both? Because I don't see how the Twins put more than a couple up with that lineup.

...unhappily "likes" this comment...

Yes.

[jud6312]

Alright, send Lynn to the showers on a high note.

[David HK]

Epic game thread intro.

Just epic.

All right, so it's another one of those nights where we make a soft-tossing lefty look like Cy Young. Gotcha. Good to know

Mind.boggling. This team can't hit breaking balls from soft tossers

[yarnivek1972]

33 pitches, 23 strikes for Lynn. Not bad for him.

What is more mind boggling to me is that the Twins have had this issue for quite a few years. Different FO, manager and players.

What else needs to be added?

[David HK]

Now I'm even more worried about our missing Bark.

Wasn't this his last known location?

Gee, you don't think he was eaten by rabbits, do you?

No wonder why Tommy Milone had a safe place in the Twins organization for a few years. They didn't want him to toss gems against them!

[VATwinsFan]

"Wheels" Morrison -- it was never in doubt.

Our ol' friend Trevor Plouffe playing 1B this evening for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs against Rochester and has hit a HR against Trevor May.

Little known fact--Lynn and Marv Throneberry are second cousins.

Marvelous Marv, Mets 120 loss season, starting 1st baseman.

Is Sano playing?

With the way Lynn handled that grounder they have to be related.

[VATwinsFan]

Is Sano playing?

Yes--2 for 3 with (drumroll) a strikeout.

[Don Walcott]

Yes--2 for 3 with (drumroll) a strikeout.

Are Sano and Plouffe playing nice?

[Aggies7]

He was out by a mile but I don’t hate the decision. Grossman hitting .148 with risp

[VATwinsFan]

Are Sano and Plouffe playing nice?

Not sure, but Sano just hit a HR.

[Don Walcott]

Not sure, but Sano just hit a HR.

We need an emergency transaction and jet for him tonight.

Possible front office takeaway: soft-throwing offspeed pitchers are hard to hit, so we need more of them.

Thanks for the gift ump
