A couple good things about apartments:

If something breaks, you don't have to fix it! Just call your handy dandy maintenance professional. 

 

No yard work after a long day at work. 

 

yup, we've gone back and forth on that first point about 100x!

 

As for the yard work, the yards here are tiny, and we'll have almost no grass. Missing the sanctuary of a back yard seems to be a big deal to us.

 

Also, the ability to have windows open on all sides of a house, and to keep fresh air flowing is a big deal for us, apparently.

So I'm solely in charge of my 2 and 4 year olds during the game tonight.  Any experience on how to get them to sit still during the entire game?  :jump:

Lock the doors, I'm sure your place is child safe, let them run free, other then the rooms you can't see or hear them, enjoy the game and they will be fine.

Ha! Leinenkugel is starting to get a decent presence down here in Austin! I was shocked to see Summer Shandy in grocery stores earlier this year.

My wife's uncle was trying to convince me once of the virtues of living in a more urban environment in lieu of the suburbs.  

 

You don't have yard work.  (I don't mind yard work)

You don't have a driveway to shovel.  (I really don't mind that either - snowblower)

You don't have to pay servicepeople when something breaks.  (I'm pretty handy and can do it myself)

You can stop by the neighborhood market and get fresh food EVERY DAY!  (The last thing I want to do every day after work is to go to the grocery store)

 

Needless to say, his arguments didn't convince me of anything other than the fact that I'm living where I should be.

Hicks is starting tonight!  I'm shocked, as all statistics I could find, plus him being hurt recently, pointed to him being best left on the bench tonight.  Maybe Girardi is trying to get some revenge adrenaline out of Hicks?

Exactly.  I like some hard physical work now and then too.  It's nice to have a visual representation of what I've accomplished since my office life doesn't have that.  I find that much more satisfying.

I can walk to about 7 breweries and about 30 bars.....probably over 100 places to eat within a mile.....and the grocery store....and a liquor store and several beer stores. It takes less than 15 minutes to get to any music show I want to see. And probably another 20 breweries.

 

For us, it's all about all the stuff we can do w/o driving. It makes it much more likely we'll do those things if they are close.

I wore all the twins paraphernalia I own in the midst of yankee country today. I don't think it's a stretch to say a victory here tonight would probably be in the top 3, if not my most memorable sporting event I've ever watched as a fan.

The ability to take a pee outside without the neighbors watching was a big factor in purchasing my 12 acre hobby farm. No more quick zipper accidents.

There certainly are pros and cons.  If we are going somewhere for a show or something, it's usually less than half an hour drive so it's not a huge issue.  Both of us grew up in northern MN, so we enjoy our space enough that it offsets any minor inconveniences that may exist.  We're far enough out that its suburban, yet no so far out that it's too much of a hassle to get to something in either downtown.

I laugh at it, as over confidence? leads to downfall...it's a new time East Coast, GO TWINS!!!!!!
