Lefties are batting .367 with an OPS over .900 against the Angels pitcher....so Mauer sits.

There's a reason why they all wear claret and blue. West Ham stole Villa's shirts after a game between the clubs and have been wearing those colors ever since. The "Clarets" of Burnley didn't steal the actual uniforms, but did explicitly copy them.

 

Portsmouth made one big mistake: Harry Redknapp. He overspent and didn't get the wins that would have paid the bills. Villa fans are chuckling because their arch-rivals Birmingham City hired him last year.

 

Yeah Redknapp spent and the owners let him. The Owners didn't have the actual cash to stay out of debt so it was more an ownership issue. 

 

It's kind of funny... Portsmouth Fans hate Southampton. I've never been to England... I can barely find these locations on a map but you guessed it... I Hate Southampton.

yeah, the fault lies with Molitor.  He sets the lineup. I doubt Mauer needed the night off.

Could you imagine the debate on here if that was the Twins lineup?

You're obviously new to Twins baseball. I can empathize harshly with LAA's current predicament. Glad to be out of the woods lineup-wise.

I can tell you that he is a real nice guy, my youngest son had hitting and pitching lessons with him over last winter. He's from Hereford, TX (pronounced Herferd by the locals). The Angels announcers have pronounced it like its spelled, so I'm curious to see how Twins announcers say it, if at all. I'm routing for a complete game shutout by Ervin and a couple runs by the Twins off the Angels bullpen for a 2-0 win and a sweep.

 

Also, he will chew the heck out of some gum during the game.

That's great inside intel!  

 

And, being from ND farm country, and Hereford territory at that, those TX locals pronounce it right.  You betcha.

Southampton have been the mirror image of Pompey: rising to be relevant in the PL at the same time that Portsmouth dropped divisions.

 

I do think that relegation would make baseball more interesting. But the way I've thought of it (with the current minor league structure) is three divisions of 10 teams with relegation and promotion between these divisions (but not to AAA, AA, etc.). The playoffs would consist of 8 teams: the winner of the 3rd division, the top two teams in the 2nd division, and the top 5 teams in the premier division. If the World Series winner happened to be from the 3rd division, that team would get promoted straight to the premier level, otherwise its the usual 2 or 3 top teams move up and the corresponding bottom teams move down.

Maybe pitch Calhoun differently. 5 HR in 7 games is poor pitch selection and/or poor scouting.

 

The guy isn't Jim Thome.

How do you know he isn't in the process of changing his name right now?

Scratching my bald head about buxton reaching to lead off the inning and not even attempting to steal. Also befuddled about sano, who has now struck out at leas once in 19 of his last 22 games
