Willihammer Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Baz taken right where MLB.com predicted. How far will Kendall and JB fall?
dgwills Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Well, there goes Baz.I don't think there is a plan. Not looking good so far.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Baz taken right where MLB.com predicted. How far will Kendall and JB fall?I could care less about Kendall... I'd have to think about JB at 35 if he was still there though. d-mac and Willihammer 2
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I wanted Greene, but since I absolutely didn't want McKay I guess this is a push for me. Not many teams have whiffed taking a shortstop at or near the top of the draft lately. I'm already aboard the Lewis bandwagon I guess. Now let's toss the rest of the cash at Baz. Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 People are saying that the Rays plan to develop him as both a 1B and SP.I would hope to see a team do that eventually. Willihammer and twinssouth 2

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Damn itt Pittsburgh. There's not a ton of guys I cared to try the underslot/overslot but with.
Bob Sacamento Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I cannot get mlb.com draft tracker to work. Any other site have a working draftcast?I can't get it to work on chrome but works fine on internet explorer
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Pratto gone, I suppose Danner will be too soon.

drjim Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Under slot can do you wonders in the 3rd round and laterIndeed. Can bump you up at 35/37 or buy out a handful of hs arms throughout. howieramone2 1
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Surprised and initially disappointed in the pick we of Lewis. I really wanted Weight or Gore if you want the high school route. Nut I freely admit I don't know anything compared to the guys in charge. That being said, Lewis was considered a top 4-5 talent in this draft. A draft with no clear cut #1 player. By all reports he is a great athlete with lots of skill and potential. Probably the best overall HS player in the draft. Can we really be upset if the Twins braintrust felt he was the best overall player available AND he may save money to make a nice move or two at 35 and/or 37? I wanted a ready made SP as much as anyone. But isn't the mantra also "take the best player available"? brvama 1
Danchat Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Oh goody, Mejia's imploding. Can't wait to see 5-6 innings of this bullpen again.

Danchat Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Or 7 or 8...Oh whoops, my apologies, I thought this was the game thread. How embarrassing!
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Gotta stick with Mejia though. He's part of the future. Really surprised Belisle or Breslow didn't get cut or come down with an injury after Sunday. But that's for a different discussion.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) Couple of interesting picks. Yanks take mlb.com's 49th ranked player who went down with TJS in April. M's take another high contact college bat. Definitely seems to be a trend here. Edited June 13, 2017 by Willihammer
Guest Guests Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 And a freak injury to Prior being tossed over Marcus Giles' shoulder around the bases and it might have been a bad call. http://images.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/_photos/2003-07-12-inside-prior-gil.jpg And a freak injury to Prior being tossed over Marcus Giles' shoulder around the bases and it might have been a bad call. http://images.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/_photos/2003-07-12-inside-prior-gil.jpgGreat comment, as usual, and I agree, but. . . it still shows the riskiness of pitchers. Mauer tore up his knee and missed a season, but he came back great. If a position player has Prior's collision, he might miss a few months, but, as Prior showed, it's career altering for a pitcher.

Part of me wonders if he would've been better had he never done so. It was such a freak play. Slid on a foul ball if I remember correctly

Luckily, the Twins play in the AL.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Looks like a lot of HS pitchers are still on the board.
beckmt Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Looks like a lot of HS pitchers are still on the board. That could be good for the Twins as they may be looking at several of them. Unless the new FO already knows that Pohlad will open the wallet and buy some frontline pitchers the next 2 years.

Willihammer Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Kendall falls, finally. That's pretty much everyone from MLB.com's top 20, except Canning who had medical issues I guess and... Carlson.

They could be traded for an MLB pitcher within that time frame. Making the best picks, regardless of position/level, is always the best strategy. Edited June 13, 2017 by drivlikejehu
