A lot of posters on here like to play scout (not saying you do), but it's really a strange thing to think that they know more about these players than the Twins do. Irrational, to be frank.

same kind of things were said when the Twins signed Kevin Correia, re-signed Suzuki and Hughes, drafted Kohl Stewart and Jay and so on....

This kid seems like he has a great attitude though.  I can definitely get behind a potential charismatic locker room leader next to Sano in a couple years.  I've got high hopes he'll be fun to watch and he's got a great smile for TV.  Get some interviews Audra!

So the experts know nothing as well?

Also plenty of "fans" know scouts and the like as well fwiw.

God forbid someone criticize a pick that nearly every expert said was NOT the right choice for #1 pick.

All I'm saying is that every single season, people praise/skewer the Twins for their first round pick.

And, in the end, we'll know if they were right or wrong. As I mentioned earlier, the Mauer pick was highly controversial and loads of Twins fans screamed at the sky over taking Joe 1-1.

And that turned out okay. It's not as if Lewis is a bum. He's a damned fine prep player. In 3-4 years, we'll start to see how this draft shakes out.

This is why I don't get riled up about the MLB draft. We know far less about the players than other major sports drafts, the results are far more volatile than other sports drafts, and it takes much longer to see those results.

The Twins clearly saved some bonus money by drafting Lewis. "We want to do something big at 35 and 37," Mike Radcliff said.

C'mon Dave, you don't have to do that stuff in this thread too.

As opposed to the guy saying fans are stupid and shouldn't question them?

Everyone chill. And both of you have a point.

1. Keep it to topic and don't make this about past choices. Not in this thread.

2. Keep it respectful, no matter how frustrated you are about anything.

Yeah, the strength of this class was prep bats and arms, not college arms. Beck's got a hell of a bat. Second only to Adell IMO.

Yeah I have some grumpy old man in me. These spoiled kids complaining about being drafted into MLB (first round, no less) don't get any sympathy from me. Glad the Twins don't have him.

Ah, they're kids. They're literally leaving a million dollars on the table with each lower pick. Plus, there's a pride element to it and maybe he wanted to be drafted by a particular team.

Wow, McKay looks like he's about to cry after getting picked 4th. Contrast with Berrios a few years ago...

What was Berrios reaction?

Who was screaming about the Mauer pick? I have the ByTO archives as do you, other than Dankind I'm pretty sure universally the fans liked the move.

Boras always screws us.  This just can't be good.  I hope to heck he becomes an all star but right now I don't see how this helps us in the short term.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only Boras guys I'm aware of are Alex Meyer and Eades.

The Twins have finished dead last in the division 5 out of 6 years. Traded away the ONE good first round pick they made the last decade not named Buxton (Hicks) and drafted guys like Michael, Wimmers, Gibson, Revere etc in the first round....they deserve all the mocking they get.

Yeah. This is not an argument anyone can make on behalf on the Twins. At some point you have to have success for people respect these kind of decisions. Patriots=yes. Twins=no

Eric L. from fangraphs says he doesn't have the arm for short stop, or the feet. Nor does he have good power.

Awesome. Sounds like a great pick!!!

This is very interesting. Baz, perhaps? I'd be surprised if he fell that far. Maybe someone like Sam Carlson? I would like that, as I think the local boy is being punished in prospect rankings for coming from a cold weather state.

Btw was McKay drafted as a 1B. My mlb feed is choppy. What was everyone's thoughts on his interview. Couldn't really watch it

The way I look at it is, they have been in the hunt 2 of the last 3 years.

People are saying that the Rays plan to develop him as both a 1B and SP.

A lot of Twins fans complained about the Twins signing the local boy stud Minnesota prep guy? Weird.
