I would do the same thing, but I ran distance (occasionally would run the 400 for the mile relay).  It was not always effective if you had to say you were almost done and still had three laps left.

Yeah, my track coach just would not listen when I would tell him that the 400 was not a sprint and you had to pace yourself.

 

I didn't like events that took me more than 15 seconds to complete.

Here in Tucson we get a lot of news from south of the border.  There was an interesting story today about a crazy Mexican train thief.  They caught him, but couldn't convict him of the crime.  They weren't able to find his locomotives.
