Why Are You Going to Watch Twins Games in April?

For me, the only reasons to care is following Sano, Polanco, and Buxton's progression, watch Mejia make a start or 2..... And I've got nothing after that.

I don't watch it on tv at all. I sometimes find a radio broadcast, but mostly I check on whatever "gamecast" is the best that year. 

 

So, if that counts, Sano, Buxton, Kepler, maybe Rosario. There isn't one pitcher I am interested in "watching" on this entire roster.

I am a fan, so I will listen (don't get the cable channel) and also attend. I want to see the future develop. I'm not going to spend a lot for a ticket, and try and keep my food consumption under $20 overall, which isn't all that hard depending on how hungry I am. I feel bad about the concession people.

 

This is the time that Dave St. Peter needs to shine as the President of the organization. How to sell Target Field when all you have in the wings is a couple of popular concerts on tap. Makes you want to be a fly in the room when they discuss such things.

 

Bring Back Byung-Ho! Mainly becasue I want to see the commercials they shot late last season that they never ran.

Because I like baseball.  But I'm very unlikely to go to Target Field (usually attend 5-10 games a year), at least until I sense the organization is headed in a direction I agree with.

Because it's baseball!  If I'm not attending games, I'm watching or at least listening to most games.  As a season ticket holder, I'm also invested so there is that.  The game is what gets me to the park or TV or radio.  Even as putrid as it's been around Target Field the last handful of years, there's little things that keep me going to them.  Sometimes it's something with the other team or a particular matchup, sometimes it's an opportunity to see a player (particularly an ace pitcher) that I haven't seen play before, sometimes it's just the perfect excuse to sit outside on a great summer day/evening.  I can't say that I'm overly excited about this club in general, but man am I ever excited for Opening Day!

If I could avoid it, maybe I would, but I'm sick with it. I've been patiently waiting six months for the privilege of watching grown men throw the old ball around. Can't help it. It's great.

Those of us old enough to remember the 94-2000 Twins have had worse things.  As bad as this team was last year the young talent is pretty exciting.

I will watch the Twins. Like a Guindon cartoon of years ago, "It's Spring, and I believe in the Twins!!"

 

Plus, it will give me a chance to make snide remarks about the FO and Molitor. Unless of course, the Twins win, then I will pronounce just how smart the new FO is.

Because I'm much more curious to see how the new front office reacts and operates in-season than how they set the roster on Opening Day.

Hope springs eternal!  I'll take my son to the home opener with high hopes for an entertaining and a (at least slightly) competitive season. I will watch or listen to pretty much every game unless/until the games become more irritating than interesting.   I am expecting improved play from Buxton, Kepler, Rosario and Polanco. I am wishing that Gibson continues to look as good as he has in ST. I am expecting Park and Berrios to be called up quickly. I want the young guys to step up and the old guys to perform to expectations and lead or get replaced, quickly.  I will be satisfied if this season at least demonstrates that the foundation is being laid for (not too distant) future success.

I was only two when the Twins went 60-102 in '82. That '82 team had youngsters like Frank Viola, Gary Gaetti, Kent Hrbek, Tom Brunansky, Tim Laudner, Randy Bush... A nice core that grew together, took their lumps, and then surprised the world in 1987. I remember my dad and Grandpa talking about the '82 season a lot in 1987, and how it was worth it.

 

I hope I don't have to wait until 2021 for Sano, Buxton, Rosario, Polanco, Berrios, and Kepler to win a World Series, but I'm going to enjoy watching them grow as players and as a team until then.

I'll watch regardless.  But I'll be more interested trying to watch the young talent keep up with .500 ball, which should at least keep the interest going for a few months, I hope.  Last year was a kick to the gut when they started 0-9 and then later 8-26.  Almost no chance of recovering from that.

I'll watch because Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Rosario, Mejia, Polanco ... who'd I miss? And whoever comes up, hopefully soon. I'll tune into as many games as possible, but reserve the right to turn it off when pitching ... yeah. But I'll watch also because I want ESan to do well, he's worth watching. And I want to see if Gibson has turned a corner because he did look good this spring. And I want Dozier to have another monster year. And to see if Breslow's self-analyzing worked. What? I'm curious. So, yeah, and because, baseball. I may not like everything, and I may be in for a world of hurt, but, well, there are worse things in life, and, well, baseball. Did I mention baseball?
