Trevor Plouffe/to the A's

Heard an interesting rumor the other day about Boston considering signing Trevor Plouffe to a 1 year deal for $2-3M and use him as a utility role. Sounds pretty cheap for a decent veteran who can fill in at 1st or 3rd and you could throw him in the outfield if you had no bench players left. There could be a few more teams that could use him at that price.

Most likely the A's will bank that Plouffe can bring them something back in return. Waiting to see the salary. Probably better than the $2-4 million was rumored elsewhere. Watch, the A's will get more for Trevor in half-a-season than the Twins got in two trying to move him.

Saw 5M with incentives this morning.

Always felt that Valencia and Plouffe were pretty much interchangeable.  Apparently so do the A's

Wrong,  Trevor is a much better fielder.  Valencia to me is a stone statue.

From what I read, Valencia has reputation for having a poor clubhouse presence / not being a good team player.

And he's not as good a defensive player as Plouffe became after learning his brand new position (that he should have been moved to way earlier).

Excellent news. Hopefully he can have a great year, despite playing home games in that monster of a park.

I'm just happy he's no longer on the team.  Nothing against the guy personally or even professionally, but his mere presence on the roster last year was a domino effect that set the team back considerably.  I hope he has a great year, I'm just thrilled this move is finally done.

It happens. The Twins got more for Eduardo Nunez than the Yankees did.

Heck, if they catch a break and play their cards right, they might even get something for Brandon Kintzler; the Brewers probably never even considered that would ever be a possibility.

and ugly besides. (I used to live there. No place to see a game. But they do have some good drumming and shouting going on the rightfield section)

Yeah the Coliseum has seen much better days, that place is a toilet bowl of a stadium.

Which place is worse to watch a baseball game?

Oakland Stadium? or MetroDome?

Metro Dome was the worst by far. Baseball colored roof, damn turf, etc., etc.

At the least the A's play outside, often in the sunshine.

Oakland, easily.  I've watched a ton of games sitting in each stadium (I've PLAYED on the Oakland field a few times) and Oakland was always the worst experience.

Never been to Oakland but the stadium looks like a concrete dump on TV...

It's a hole, the city itself is mostly nasty too (or was when I used to go there, who knows now), and when I used to go to the park, the BART system was the only safe option to get there.  My Dad refused to drive to the park.

I've only been to Oakland once, in 1986. The best Metrodome seats were far better than the best Oakland seats, which is damning by faint praise. I'll concede sunshine vs the roof and all that, but in terms of viewing the game itself I'd say Oakland was worse.
