To be perfectly clear, I think it's absolutely ridiculous to demand anyone be fired.

I am no Trump supporter.

But I stand by my belief the protest method is disrespectful in and of itself, and further by being so, loses it's impact and gives those who would ignore it exactly what they need to do so.

I don't know how you protest without disrespecting someone, some of the time.  And if you manage to avoid disrespecting someone, I'd wonder what kind of attention you're garnering, if any.  I'm not sure how the respectful method puts advocates in a better spot.

(And, just to clarify, I certainly didn't peg you as a Trump supporter).

unbelievable.

Disgusting human being. Disgusting, horrible, ****ing rotten, soulless human being.

They have no food, water, power, fuel, medical care ... the death toll there (according to local sources) is in the thousands. No access to outer points of the island. Right.

At this point, if you still support Donald Trump, I don't know what else to call you but a traitor to this nation.

Thank you ... I'm going to steal that line and use it at some point because it's the truth.

Where did you see that about the death toll? I've only seen/heard of a few people dying at a hospital without power. If Bush was destroyed about Katrina... Trump should be put on jail over this response to Maria. The media is barely paying attention to it too. 538 had a piece about the lack of coverage for Puerto Rico. Also, that most Americans don't even know they are American citizens, and are more willing to send aid after they know. Makes my blood boil.

My god, he has the worst case of NPD I think is imaginable. Seriously, the guy needs professional help. What else could explain such complete insensitivity and lack of empathy towards people in that situation.

Incredible.

The building engineer and one of the maintenance guys in my building have family there. That is their report from what their families have told them of the situation there. He said it's worse than Katrina. And there are parts of the island that are unaccessible. There is no power anywhere, unless it's on a generator. I think there is only one hospital with generator power and gas is running out. Everything is scarce. It's dire. And no one has money because there are no banks open because there is no power. People can't buy even the scantest of necessities.

Yep. It's the conclusion I've been forced to draw.

I'd also toss in "and a horrible human being" as well. One cannot continue to support a vile person without taking on some of that vileness.

Now he is tweeting about the AL election, who the person he endorsed went up by a lot after the endorsement. Fake news is not reporting that. He cannot let anything go, now matter how small it is.

Not that I feel sorry for him, but despite his power and his supposed fortune, he seems like he is pretty miserable all of the time. He is always unhappy about something, and you never ever see him look truly happy. I don't think he gets enjoyment out of anything, except for maybe crushing someone who he perceives slighted him or at one of his ego rallies, and even that I think is a fleeting, empty moment.

GQ has a piece with Trump bragging about ignoring an 80 year old man with a serious head wound.

At one point, he says he felt terrible- but not for the man, for the "beautiful white marble floor" getting covered in blood.

And now we expect that man to have empathy for hurricane victims? Right.

He's acting exactly as his history showed he would.

Nobody who voted for him gets to act surprised or outraged by any of this. This is who he's always been, he didn't try to hide it.

I heard the clip of him talking about the wounded 80 year old.  He seemed very amused when he was telling the story.  I think it is part of some old Howard Stearn interviews that have resurfaced.  I wonder if those alleged Apprentice tapes will ever see the light of day.

This is not frightening at all.

It is amazing how he just goes on unchecked by the GOP, Ryan will occasionally tsk tsk, but none of them want to risk their agenda even if it means he is leading us to numerous disasters.  They place the corporate tax cuts and repealing of health care above the safety of their constituents.  Possible nuclear war and possible collusion with a hostile foreign country seems to be a secondary concern to them if they get get their donors what they want.

Well, I'm not telling anyone how to protest. Or not to protest.

I think I'm telling them why I believe their choice is not only a poor one, but counterproductive.

You want to know why Democrats have a hard time winning elections? One reason is they let, or cause in this case, conversations about bad cops become conversations about standing for the anthem.

And they lose that conversation. Every time.

I have a hard time believing that the people who can't tell those are the same conversation would ever be convinced to back any kind of equality. Those people are either too intellectually challenged to have a real conversation or too stubborn to admit it's about equality.

Trying to model your protest to appeal to those people is as useless as trying to appeal to a rock.

We have Donald Trump as president. Republican majorities in both houses of congress. R governors outnumber D governors two to one. Voters who should RUN from the Republican Party flock to it.

I don't agree that messaging doesn't matter. I don't agree that simple acts like disrespecting the flag don't end up having unintended consequences.

Show me an example where white America doesn’t lose its **** when black America protests anything and I’ll concede the point that protesting the “wrong way” is harmful to the overall cause.

I bet tons of examples can be found. They will be local protests where no one is inconvenienced, no one is even aware, and later on it can be said "you've had your say, now let's all unite and move on."

Sorry, this sounds like an older trope but my social media and comment section perusal is pretty exclusive to TD so this acronym only recently caught my attention, but myopic ethnocentrists are using the acronym SJW to describe liberals, and it stands for Social Justice Warrior?

What am I missing, how is that an insult? Sounds like the first line of the most kick-*** obituary ever.

I think so too but it's just a way to ignore people who you don't want to deal with. "Oh, the ACLU is suing Trump over immigrant rights again? They're just SJW. **** em."

Yeah, I hadn't heard that one, either. The things one learns on TD!

I learned it from Ann Coulter reading an article about her Twitter war with Delta. I forgot she was a thing. Sucks for her that Trump went and stole her special brand of crazy and left her in a forgotten heap on the side of the road.

Sad.

At the event, Trump made a remark about the size of the response needed for the crisis in Puerto Rico that Yulín Cruz said she found insensitive.

"I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you've thrown our budget a little out of whack," Trump said jokingly, adding: "That's fine. We've saved a lot of lives."
