It seems, right now, that Papadopolous is a much bigger deal. But I also suspect today's indictment was just an entry point to get a lot more information.

Yeah, Papdopolous is really big. It sounds like he's working with the Feds now. Haven't seen Trump tweet about him yet ...

This is a big deal. No matter how much Trump and Faux News try to deflect, this is a huge stain on him. Manafort didn't just launder money, it was with intent and totaled millions. That guy ran the campaign until reports surfaced of his dealings.

The more Trump tweets and tries to manipulate people, the worse he looks. If he fires Mueller it would be suicide. This Fusion GPS thing is all he's got at this point. Unfortunately, some are going to eat it up without blinking.

After all the information that has been released today, I don't possibly see how Trump is going to get out of this without resigning or being forced out by Congress.  It's only a matter of time before Jr. and Jared get indicted as well.

Trump would be a great poker player.  When you look at his twitter feed of the last week, he has been so calm, cool, focused and collected, you would have never known something was about to break.  He will do great working with the Asian world leaders next week, including the king of China.

Well, he could fire Mueller and proactively pardon all individuals associated with his campaign ...

Trump is still strongly supported by his base which has turned on Congress so if it's Trump v. Congress, Congress might blink.

I think this will change things. Especially if Pop was wearing a wire for months. It's incredible what these guys did. Did they need Russia to win? What did Russia give them that they wanted bad enough to break the law?

The optimistic person in me wants to believe that doing so would result in his immediate impeachment as it should.  Hell, in a just world, he should've been threatened with impeachment the moment he took office for refusing to divest from his business dealings.

But the realistic part of me says you're probably right and there's a decent chance he could pardon everyone including himself, fire Mueller, and nothing will happen.

There is no way nothing would happen. There would be a legitimate uprising if that happens. Absolutely no way would be ever get away with it. He is a despicable person, I hope they find enough evidence to lock his ass up.

The bitter in all of this, is the conspiracy theorist have his back. If they went after him like they did Clinton, those approval ratings would be really low.

Uprising? As in what? Storming the White House, Congress, putting their heads on a pike?

Best idea I've heard all day.

Except that the continued supporters of Trump probably own 99% of the guns in this country.

But only 1% of the brains.

Based on the desire to keep certain statues around, the provisional prohibition on slavery might be the most partisan issue in the US.

What are you basing that opinion on? From what I've seen, guns might be the most partisan issue in our country.

On second thought, what I meant was that a lot of gun owners are single issue voters. Just my opinion.... based on people I've known. And while I'm backpedaling, that doesn't necessarily contradict the idea that the vast majority of guns might be owned by Trump voters.

This is what happens with a nation's leader tells its majority population that they are oppressed, and that "these people" are the source of all their problems.  They become sub-human in the minds of those under the leader's authority and the population.

This has been proven in practice for centuries if not longer.  And yet we as a species still refuse to learn from the past.

Nice story--basically a group of middle aged men ruining the life of a disabled young girl. Tonight, a story in Tennessee of a group of nazis roughing up a white women for sitting at a table with a black man. Lots of sick people in this country. More than I ever would have thought.

One of the bigger evils this Presidency has created is giving his sons a bigger platform.   They have all the arrogance of their father with maybe even less self-awareness and without whatever strange savvy Trump Sr has.

I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism.

Yes, we can teach those multitudes of lazybones out there to fend for themselves, with the help of a little tough love from a properly reconstituted government.

And that same government can prevent those brown-skinned people with the wrong religion from killing a few people at a time, by making life impossible for the millions of similar people with no harmful intent.

But thousands of gun deaths a year? Ain't nothin' nobody can do about that!

The mutually inconsistent views Trump's wing of the party has on the use of gubmint boggles my mind.

(I note that nobody I saw while briefly sampling Fox News last night was queasy about "politicizing" yesterday's killings, nor saying "now is not the time".)

(Sorry, I can't help tying all this crap together. It's part-and-parcel.)

It's shameful how they treat the news. After Vegas it was too soon and insensitive to talk about bump stocks and assault weapons. Immediately after the New York attack, tough immigration, extreme vetting, ISIS is a threat, dems don't care blah blah blah.

The socialism post is just ignorant. That isn't how it works. The fact that girl was given candy is more like socialism. That family continues to display arrogance, condescension, and the elite attitude that others are worth less than them.

Sadly, Trump's tweets today were in direct response to talking points he heard on Fox & Friends - he even tagged them.  He has all the intelligence available to him from various sources, but he goes by what he hears on what is basically a propaganda network.

Also, his comments attacking Schumer, while reprehensible just for the fact that the day after a Senator had his own constituents killed Trump attacks the Senator rather than offering support and condolences, were surprisingly not that accurate.

The bill he was referencing was signed in 1990, while Schumer signed the bill he was a rather junior senator, and the bill was signed by Bush Sr.  It is not like it was a signature bill of Schumer's and the Senator is not responsible for the killings as Trump would like to imply.

Why not teach her about inheritance: keep her home, buy her some candy, and give it to her.

Of all the things that pissed me off about Trump Jr's tweet is the realization that he did not, in fact, give candy to children that were less well off than his. He just joked about doing so.

He doesn't actually have any philosophy rooted in principle, given how he views how his daughter "earned" her candy through old-fashioned hard work. He just wants to kvetch.

Trick-or-treating = pan-handling.

Pan-handling = hard work.

Not pan-handling = lazy.

Thus every homeless person in the country works harder than a Trump kid ever has.

My econ textbook says most of that candy will trickle down to the other kids.

I think it began, "my Father and my name are going to get me this degree, so I don't actually need to learn anything or develop any critical thinking" (or empathy or soul...).

In what may be the stupidest string of words ever spoken, Energy Secretary Rick Perry is suggesting that burning more fossil fuels will prevent sexual assaults.
