If I'm Molitor, I'm pitching Albers until the end - regardless of score. With any luck he gives up enough runs that this is the last time we see him.

I mean, aside from the glorious 2013 reunions.

Without trying to troll! I was thinking this afternoon, we are now in year 7 or so of ineptitude. And so far we have our stud CF in Rochester, our young ace getting hammered, and our third baseman possibly without a position except DH. While there is still plenty time, I pondered, what if they all don't make it? What then? Wouldn't that be some kind of cruel bizarre joke!

Not sure, but this would be me.

So Vargas hits two home runs in game 1, is putting up a 400+ OBP in limited action this year, and doesn't play game 2 to get Plouffe, who will be gone in a month and a half, and his smoking .280 OBP in the lineup?

Just thought that was an interesting decision. I'll bet he just loves playing for Molly.

Aunts and uncles all over the place in those ponderings.

Something makes me think I am so glad I am not related to your parents! :)

We're going to have to work on our silver linings here...

Great opportunities for AAA pitchers... um, and, uh...

Good to see Escobar can pitch...

AND THEN?

I saw Maddux quoted once where he said he throws about 85 of his pitches every game exactly where he wants to, that made it tough to hit!

There's a video showing Gregg Maddux warming up before a game, his pitching coach looking on. His delivery was perfectly relaxed, and exactly the same each time. There was a footprint inn the sand where his drive foot came down on the follow through. Same exact spot every time.

In games, Maddux had exactly the same footwork as in his warm-up. This allowed him to control the bend of his 88 mph fastball within a couple inches of where he wanted it. He could bend it about a foot left or a foot right, and hit the glove almost every time. He could also vary the speed of his pitches, vary his tempo, and of course he was a great fielder. As a result, hitters could not wait for a "pitch to hit," because within a couple pitches it would be strike two. Maddux rarely "wasted" a pitch because his excellent movement got lots of whiffs and weak contact.

When you see other "finesse" pitchers, even when everything's working, they still don't have the deadly precision of Gregg Maddux. And Maddux had very few days when his precision failed him. He wasn't unhittable, but for about a decade he almost always gave his team a chance to win.

For anyone at the game:  Has Mauer gotten to first yet?  They cut to commercial before he came into the picture.

Looks like I picked the right doubleheader to stop watching the Twins.

I can just imagine the van trapp family singing about it now...

It's got the right meter.

The baseball gods sure are fickle. We go up 5-zip on the other guys' ace, and Santana's throwing BBs, and it all gets washed away. Now we lose by lopsided scores twice in one day. Depressing.

Don't look now, but if he gets through the ninth unscathed, he's got a nice tidy 6 inning 3 earned run performance. Intriguing enough to stay on the 40-man through next Spring?

I bet you're hoping I have just jinxed him, aren't you?

They're up by 5, they lose by 8, they score 2, they give up ten, Eduardo Escobar's pitching...  they're all over the place....

Where's Chi's auntie when we need her? :)

There you go. Currently eighth on the team in ERA at 4.50. Second on the team in innings per appearance. (ESan has 126.2 innings in 21 games.) I give you 2016 Twins stalwart, Andrew Albers!

But on the bright side Captain Sisko has reclaimed the station from Gul Dukat and the Dominion. And got his baseball back.

So all is right in the Alpha Quadrant.
