Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 The Rangers and the Twins seem to be in sync right now. The Rangers win... the Twins win... the Rangers lose... the Twins lose. This is exactly how you don't lose ground or gain ground. If you are bowling against someone... If they throw a strike and you throw a strike. the bowlers might as well have not even rolled at all. If they pick up 9 pins and you pick up 9 pins... nothing is going to get decided that way.Hopefully the Twins knock down all the pins for a bunch of frames in a row.Put the Blinders on so they see nothing but those little spots on the floor. Don't look at the pins. Here are some things to think about: 1. Tigers -- When you talk about extreme failed expectations, the conversation will naturally drift to almost every president in U.S. History... Custer... any skydiver whose chute didn't open and Waterloo. Not Napoleon's Waterloo but the actual city of Waterloo, Iowa. The 2015 Tigers have matched this level of failed expectation and Mr. Dave Dombrowski is out as a result. The Tigers were supposed to be contenders and the ended up pretenders and this led to selling. I don't think the Tigers will be looking to fill from the farm in 2016. I believe they are going to be major FA players in 2016.2. Ron Gardenhire -- Since it's the Tigers and since Ron Gardenhire has been rumored as the potential manager in 2016, I thought I'd take a moment and think about Gardy. I haven't thought about Gardy for awhile to be honest with you, and I've kinda forgotten what he looks like. Gardy has probably spent the year around the house and Gardy's wife probably thought it was nice for a month or so but she is probably ready for him to go back to work right about now. Will it be the Tigers? Will it be any team at all? I don't have that answer right now and I doubt that Gardy has that answer right now.3. Blinders on -- In Horse racing... horses often wear blinders. For the longest time I thought that blinders were a horse fashion statement. Something that made them look tough and cool. Turns out that they wear them for job purposes. Crowds can be distracting as can other horses and jockeys. By wearing blinders it keeps the horse focused on what is front of them. Obviously horses tend to look around while running full speed. If they don't wear blinders... they notice blonds in the front row... people tearing up their losing tickets before the race is over... screaming and yelling... basic mayhem... and they also will attempt to read the racing form to see what the experts are saying about them. With blinders on... they can't do any of that.. they are forced to look ahead. Hopefully the Twins equipment manager is placing these things in each locker as we speak.4. Tyler Duffey -- The guy has a big time curve ball and if he can get ahead of hitters with it or without it, Duffey has a chance to keep the Tigers hitters in check. If he doesn't get ahead of the hitters... the Tigers have the bats that can make him pay for that: Miggy... J.D... Kinsler... Victor. The Tigers record sucks mainly because of pitching; however, this team can still stroke the ball.5. Canterbury Tales -- I actually like going to horse races and putting some bets down and watching them run. It's kinda exciting and your heart rate does go up. I remember the first time I placed a bet at the track... I walked up to the window and said #4 and I handed them 10 bucks. The guy behind the counter handed me a Burger, Fries and a Coke and gave me some change back. Wrong Window but the lines were shorter.--------------------Game-time forecast: Clear, sunny (until sunset), 76 deg F, 0% chance of precipitation, winds from the SSE at 9mph.Lineups:TIGERSGose CFKinsler 2BCabrera 1BJ.D. stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Here's an additional thought. If the Twins win their next four games, they WILL be in the second wild card position. Texas is playing Houston, who leads them by 1.5 games. If Texas wins 3 of 4, the Twins will be tied with the Rangers and half a game ahead of the Astros. If they split, the Twins will be a game up on the TRs and a half game behind Houston. big dog, Danchat, glunn and 2 others 5

What great fun, and a great guy. Never got around to following Monk, though i am a fan of what Shalhoub i've seen. Was Weller a recurring character, or just a cameo? I certainly was pleased to see him in the recent Star Trek movie. Anyway, i think i owe a small apology for responding without actually watching your video... Now i have. Is good. And on topic, being about Tigers and all. I think my favorite tiger related lyrics at the moment are: "Catch the tail by the tiger. Take the horns by the bull. The Tele that Don Rich is playing in that video doesn't look like his famous sliver sparkle, it looks more gold. I wonder what became after his silver one after Buck died, apparently he had got it from Rich's widow when he went on tour with Dwight Yoakam.
