So maybe Escobar should be the leadoff hitter, and move Dozier down to the two hole. Anything to give Dozier a change, as it looks like he is just pressing too hard right now.
This will be my first game thread of the year, and I want to point out that when I participated last year, we were well over 500, so I am confident that things will turn around tonight.
This game is over. It was a fun 20 minutes. When you get your first 2 men on base and then your 23 million dollar man strikes out followed up by the most predictable double play ever its a bad start. 6 pitches later the bases are loaded and everyone's spirits are down. 9-1 KC win. HR by Escobar for our only run.
The past couple games he has been hitting the ball hard but right at people. He is on the right track now, and his glove is top 5 material in the majors.
Sano needs to take a day or 2 off and Molitor needs to recognize this. He is obviously in pain, and now it is hurting the team. He will be fine in the long run, but just needs time to heal.
So far, every right handed hitter has seen a first pitch fastball over the outside corner. Hunter is the only one to swing at it, and the only one with a hit. Let's start going the other way and hitting the ball hard to the right side.
This feels like one of those games that we have no chance. I don't mean to be a naysayer after 1/2 an inning, but I don't think we will score more than 1 or 2 against their pitcher.
Everyone did their job. Mauer got him over and Rosario got him in. That's all you can ask. Also, according to my math, if this pace keeps up we will win 8-0.
If Suzuki catches the pitch that he dropped then the game is tied. If Mauer or Suzuki hit the ball a foot farther the game is tied. If they are playing in any stadium except Tropicana this game is tied. So many missed opportunities will cost us. I predict losing 2/3 to Houston this weekend and then just fading out of it in September.
