I refuse to get my hopes up.

"That Doug Bernier looks like he could help out!"

Also, silly question, by why does Ryan need to see Berrios before he pulls the trigger to call him up? Doesn't he have like 20 people employed under him who he can goto for advice on this? Is anyone on a rehab in AAA now?

Tyler Durden taking a break from Fight Club to pitch a game for the Twins, nice. Won't Duffey be upset though?

Lol, I was going to say that. You beat me to it!

Ooou, but the highs are so great!

"That Doug Bernier looks like he could help out!"

But the crashes really suck.

Verlander isn't scaring anyone. Gotta be tough to pitch with Kate Upton on your mind.

Verlander has struck out 23 and given up one earned run in his last 3 starts. He is most likely back. Has looked like the Verlander of old ever since that twins start (where the twins had the comeback to end all comebacks in the 9th)

Look at all those guys that have trademarked their names.  They probably have a good mind for business, or decent business managers at the very least.   :)

Quick test - who remembers SNL's Chico Escuela?

Jane Curtin: And, an embarrassing note: 19-year-old Anita Dark of St. Petersburg, Florida, filed a paternity suit this week, and has claimed that the father is Weekend Update Sportscaster Chico Escuela. Ms. Dark alleged that she became intimate with Mr. Escuela last Spring, when Chico was in Florida attempting a comeback with the New York Mets. On advice from his lawyer, Chico can't comment on Anita Dark, but he is here this week to tell us about sports. Welcome home, Chico!

Chico Escuela: Thank you, Hane. Basebal bin berra berra good to me. Anita Dark bin berra berra good to me.. but Chico can't talk about it. In sports, Charles White won the.. how do you say.. Heisman Trophy. Now, look at this run. Charles White is the best football player. He runs with authority. Chico run from authority.. but I can't talk about it.

Uh.. Darrell Dawkins does it agian. Look at this. [ show video of slam dunk that shatters the glass backboard ] He break the glass! He break it! Why do they use glass? The backboard should be stronger! Should use cement.. or steel.. or iron. Not rubber! Rubber break! But I can't talk about it. Back to you, Hane.

Jane Curtin: Nice work, Chico.

Rule 5 guy.  Right?  Can't send him down....time for the fictional injury.

He's got book finger from reading too much? Fiction can indeed be dangerous.

Meh, I'm sure it's actual. There's a lot to get injured and the world is so finely detailed.

Nah, what i really wanted to ask/verify was my understandin' of the rule 5 stuff. I vaguely remember that there was some details that kept DL from being an easy way out, so iff i recall correctly, the Twins will need to keep him on the 25 man list at the start of next season for the number of days he's on the DL this season before they can option him...

I could be mistaken though... Or it could just before large (60 day) periods on the DL.

Anyway an hour 'til the game starts... Nice job with the intro, Broch.

Shoulder inflammation.

Apparently he complained of soreness in his shoulder last night.

Good timing.

Day!

If that's the case, we should all boycott the game tonight.  I looked it up, and the Twins have never had even one female player--talk about sexist.

For those wanting to keep tabs on the Rochester game. Berrios had a clean 1st with a K. Pinto had a nice 2 out single to score 2 runs in the first. Good to see him back.

Old friend Darin Mastroianni is patrolling center.

J.O. gave up his first hit to start the 2nd. No-hitter over. Go home folks. Maybe next time.

Wow, it is indeed an auspicious day, for many reasons.  I salute all dogs, women, and Namibian Heroes.  I  do appreciate Beat The Rays Day, too.

I only caught snippets of the game action yesterday, but it seemed every time I did, those hack announcers were saying something completely inane.  It carried over to the post game crew, too-  I mean, all these boys were really, really butt-hurt by losing to the likes of the Twins yesterday.  Incredulous.  Dumbfounded- (esp. the 'dumb' part).

They all seemed to have this attitude that they were God' gift to baseball, and how could this happen?!?  My favorite- aside from hearing about "Michael" Sano, and "Teddy" Rosario,  I think was Brian Anderson's utter disbelief--"if you woulda told me that Rosario would hit a triple offa Romero, and a home run offa Cedeno, I woulda said 'yer crazy!'" Ummm... Don't they even look up the old-timey-kind-of stats?

I once heard a young woman comic muse that a lot of older men suffer from IHS- or 'Imagined Hotness Syndrome.'  Seems like the Rays crew has a big dose of that.  I hope we sweep 'em, with extreme prejudice.

Imagined Hotness Syndrome-  beware of it...

Duffey is going to have to match Archer this game on getting outs as it looks like runs are going to be scarce to come by. Archer must have that outside slider working effectively because the Twins are striking out and dropping like flies when they get up to the plate. Hopefully Duffy can hang and the Twins can get to the Rays bullpen. This looks like a game where we are going to have to hit the Rays bullpen and hope the Twins bullpen holds up and win a low scoring game. We may have found a team who is starting to have bullpen woes, and Twins finally look's like it is starting to shape up a bit. Would be nice to see the boys get a sweep of the Rays.

Archer is 4-0 in his four career starts vs the Twins, with a 0.79 ERA.

Looks like Bender is breaking out his heater today...such as it is. I guess if you're looking for the hook, then the heat can surprise you.

Actually E has a decent mix of fastballs. Fades his two-seamer nicely off the right corner.

Bango, Rosario!

I vote we go with Bill James' assertion that the word 'assist' is too passive for the game changer throws that outfielders make to take away extra base hits.

He suggested the phrase 'baserunner kills'.   That suits Rosario perfectly.
