I'd like to see his stats if he played SS full time. I could see him knocking 12 to 15 hrs a year to go along with 25 to 30 dbls, 50-60 rbi, and to avg .260ish. Although who knows what his defensive stats would reveal?

Plouffe would be a good comparison. Plouffe has more power and is older. Escobar could play more position. At this time of their career, they are both solid fielders.

Escobar had a really nice game, but comparing him to plouffe is about as silly as comparing Blaine Boyer to Mariano Rivera because of his performance tonight. Let's pump the breaks a tad. Escobar can be a solid stop gap for this year and maybe next, but it's going to take more than a hot streak over a couple weeks to convince me he is the SS of the future or someone to pencil in for the next 4 years

Yeah, Blaine Boyer has like 20x more Ks than Mariano Rivera this year.

Isn't JR there tonight? Hopefully he needs no further convincing.

6 IP + 3 H= 21 batters. Only 9 connected on balls put into play.

Not enough pitch to contact.

Another interesting game. Molitor is managing like these are playoff games. He went with the hot hand to close the game and when Boyer looked good he kept him in. The starters are not giving innings like they were earlier and this continues to keep the bench a hitter short, but everyone is compensating.

Contributions from everyone two games in a row. I'll take Esco as the shortstop. He won't make many highlight reel defensive plays, but he turns outs into outs. Buxton's speed is impressive. Rosario's arm is outstanding. I still say put him in right and Hicks in left. Herrmann had a couple hits and got credit for nabbing a runner.

I'd like to see Milone go seven tomorrow with May for the eighth and Perkins for the ninth (and a save). It would top off a real rags-to-riches road trip.

I'm a lot higher on Escobar than Dave and even I agree with this. It'd be great if Escobar was the real deal at short but I still view him as a stop gap.
