ashbury Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Pinch running for Sano is dumb.Even Nunez's helmet is faster than Sano. I agree about the risk of a lesser bat if it matters in the 11th. However pinch running for a rookie isn't quite the same as for an established slugger.
Jham Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Just when I thought our days of seeing Nunez as DH were over... ashbury 1
David HK Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Good work, Mr. Nunez. Gutsy call, Molly. Come on, Hicks.

Platoon Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Just read the Oliva bio by Henninger. I had no idea, but Tony was an awful outfielder initially - through A LOT of hard work, he made himself a gold glover by his 3rd season. He was probably more agile than Oswaldo, but Arcia is good enough of an athlete to get at least average. I Have used the Oliva Arcia comparison many times. He was a terrible outfielder with a great arm and bat! Hmm sounds familiar.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Pursuant to previous discussion... The runner advanced to second on the deep fly. How come that ain't scored a sacrifice? Mike Sixel 1

Platoon Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Am not. Are too!So, my son is in prison. I'm getting so old, I can't dig the garden any more, and told him so in a letter, letting him know I wished he was here to help. He wrote me back...I figured to apologize, but the letter said "Dear dad, DON'T dig the garden, that's where I hid the loot!" The next day, 15 cops come, and dig in my garden for most of two days. Next day, I get another letter..."Dear dad...is the garden dug yet? Love, you son." Glad you told that one, I heard it about 50 yrs or so ago, and I had forgotten that so many cops came to dig I'm the garden!

jimmer Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Pursuant to previous discussion...The runner advanced to second on the deep fly.How come that ain't scored a sacrifice? In baseball, a sacrifice fly is a batted ball that statisfies four criteria:-There are fewer than two outs when the ball is hit.-The ball is hit to the outfield (fair or foul), or to infield foul territory.-The batter is put out because an outfielder (or an infielder running in the outfield, or foul territory) catches the ball on the fly (alternatively if the batter would have been out if not for an error or if the outfielder drops the ball and another runner is put out).-A runner who is already on base scores on the play. Gibby Provisional Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Are too! Glad you told that one, I heard it about 50 yrs or so ago, and I had forgotten that so many cops came to dig I'm the garden! I'm lucky to get a cop to respond at all...unless I'm not wearing a shirt, and smoking crack, then yes, I can believe 15 cops would show up to wrestle my ass to the ground.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is Bert really comparing Tommy Hunter's career to Trevor May's?

big dog Verified Member Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Dick just gave the scores of the Twins games in July. This might be the best stretch of pitching for the team as a whole that I can remember. And I'm older than Chief's garden. USAFChief, Hosken Bombo Disco, glunn and 2 others 5
