Like I said above, if the art doesn't make you uncomfortable, it doesn't change the world. If an artist wants to make me uncomfy about Hillary, go for it.

I believe and appreciate your consistency on it.  I feel pretty much the same.  I wouldn't do it, but i won't be awake tonight angry about it.

But let's be real, the vast majority of anti-Trump people would absolutely destroy anyone who showed an equally aged, deliberately in your face statue of Hilary's body.

Certainly.

IMO, that would sort of mean the art worked. It may not get people to change their vote, but political art needs to challenge us. History is filled with art that is "offensive", but that actually matters.

I thought the art was mean spirited and over the top, but, that was kind of the point.

Yeah, that's not the case when you deliberately make the appearance part of your gag.

I don't disagree, I wouldn't try to claim it's quality art.

Seeing as the message of "The Emperor has no Clothes" seems to be a pretty apt analogy with Trump, I wouldn't be surprised if simply a naked Trump was the intention, but when they got to the genitals they just couldn't resist acting like junior high kids and had fun with that too.

I agree though that the message of "don't blindly follow a fool" is partly if not mostly lost by, "that guy has a tiny wiener and no testicles! Ha ha ha".

Also true that some would get upset if that was done to Clinton, personally, I'll just roll my eyes when the Trump supporter living in his mom's basement makes a Hillary statue of her naked with a giant penis. There's probably a few dozen of those being made right now.

This election can't be over soon enough, it's going to interrupt the new season of Naked and Afraid.

Well, you can at least get a head start on the 'Afraid' part...

This election ....the new season of Naked and Afraid.

Leave it to a foreigner to figure out how to fix our election process! Genius!

This needs to happen.

After a few hours of that we'd have a write-in candidate win.

I assumed it would devolve into Lord of the Flies long before two hours. Perhaps I'm just an optimist.

Well, Clinton cannot seem to avoid scandals.  The newest was exposed by the NYT and the Clinton foundation.  Most seems pretty benign, except for the part of taking money from foreign governments and foreign officials.  Bill managed to escape that with the Chinese donating money to his campaign (and honestly, this is something he should have been impeached for... not that Lewinski thing).

Anyways, the short of it (if I read it right) was that she was taking donations from foreign entities while being the secretary of state. Obama asked that practice be stopped in 2009, which they 'complied' yet still continued taking donations, the most notable being from the Afghans which they simply chose not to report... and now since stepping down, they still take them and use them as a way to get donors access to the Clintons.  Again, in Federal circles, this is a big deal.

ducks and runs :)

Source?  I've seen articles on the improper communications between the State and the Clinton foundation, but nothing amounting to such an allegation...

I found this.

It seems the foundation was taking donations and they sometimes overlapped in suspicious ways with state dealings.  But it could just be coincidence.

I mean, I guess if the sum total of these investigations is that the Clintons are about as "politiciany" as politicians get I'd have to sound the "alert the presses" thing.....

Right.  I don't condone it (at all), but like you say it doesn't quite add up to Hillary Clinton the person being paid by foreign entities to curry political favor.

It's the typical Clinton scandal in that there's no there there of actual wrong doing.  All this would be damaging if Trump could capitalize on it without making news himself.  His comments on immigration (deportation police flip flop stuff) has been getting more attention than this story has.

I heard on NPR on the drive home that the Clinton Foundation is divesting itself of (or spinning off, whatever that means) all it's foreign donations/relationships.  Something they should have done long, long ago.

Right, the problem is doing it now seems like they are giving credence to the criticisms.

I haven't checked in here in awhile. This election thing is still happening? I thought everyone got bored with it and it was cancelled.

Postponed until November.

Well. Gary can't say.....

I will eliminate medicare and medicade, get rid of laws that keep companies from forcing you to work overtime, and allow everyone to pollute the water and air like we all live in flint....

Posted

I think Gary would try to spin Flint as an example of when government isn't accountable to its citizens; the lead poisoning was a self-inflicted injury rather than some kind of Tragedy of the Commons that would undermine the Libertarian POV.

That has nothing to do with the point, that they want to eliminate any controls on pollution......does anyone think big companies give a poop about that stuff, at least the ones that actually generate a lot of pollution? You don't think coal would be worse? The Koch brothers wouldn't just pollute the crap out of the world, and spray more toxins on food, because they can?

Just look at pharma companies, and their price increases, because they can, and they are only accountable to shareholders.
