Taco trucks on every corner is capitalism in action...competition lowering prices for consumers while increasing quality.

It's a Republican dream scenario!

Well. Gary can't say.....

I will eliminate medicare and medicade, get rid of laws that keep companies from forcing you to work overtime, and allow everyone to pollute the water and air like we all live in flint....

Well Gary can say, "What is Aleppo?"

Good lord, the Libertarian party chose only slightly more poorly than the Republicans.

we should isolate ourselves from the world.

Isn't that one of the major tenets of Liberatarianism? Isolationism isn't a new concept in America. One might argue that isolationism is a prevailing sentiment among the average American.

That isn't a big deal. I'm surprised he didn't recognize the city of Aleppo right away. That is something you should be briefed on in foreign policy. I hardly think he is ignorant of what is going on there. Mistake sure, but not something that should sink him.

Don't look now...but Trump is sneakily making this close again. Or at least, much closer than it was after his week of buffoonery a month or so ago.

Swing states still look good for Hillary, this was to be expected though, things tighten back up during down times.

I think once the debates start Hillary really pulls away with this race.

Though, tbh I am a bit nervous. We are having our wedding in Montreal next summer just to be on the safe side on the off chance that trump wins ;)

Sadly, that isn't a 100% joke.

Oooo, Montreal!  We honeymooned there (and Quebec City).  I love that city.

Yeah, he said he heard Aleppo and was thinking it was an acronym for something.  Frankly, that is sort of believable.  Every other time the media has asked about the ISIS/refugee issue, they've said Syria, not Aleppo.

I agree, I think it's wildly overblown.  Both sides are overblowing it because they both want Johnson's voters.

I feel like I follow politics pretty closely and I can't ever recall hearing that city name.

As long as Matt Lauer isn't the moderator and giving Trump back rubs throughout the proceedings.

I would have had the same reaction (though ask him to rephrase the question ). Why use Aleppo when asking that question? I bet 75% of Americans don't know where/what Aleppo is. Agreed on both parties want his voters. Problem is, I don't think this is going to hurt him that much. He needs to a page out of trumps book when talking about things he has no idea about lol.

75% of Americans aren't running for POTUS. Nor do they represent a party that is isolationist, and has, in general, a weakness in understanding the international world. He just verified the fear many have, he doesn't know enough about international affairs.

Also, doesn't he know politicians are supposed to pretend to know everything and fake what they don't know? "I feed my dog Iams not Aleppo so I have no feelings on the matter" was the correct answer for the geographically challenged politician.

Then in the follow up press release he is supposed to blame Mike Barnicle for being terrible at enunciation.

Mike, my point is that i doubt many care. I don't think the desire to have less of an obstructionist approach to foreign policy is a bad thing. We don't have to be in the middle of everything. It would be nice not to spend do much money on pointless initiatives.

Our foreign policy hasn't been all that successful thus far, why continue to do the same (or worse with trump)?

I'm not arguing less isn't a good idea, I'm arguing a guy running for POTUS needs to know the landscape, whether he wants to spend money there or not.

I also agree most won't care, but most aren't considering voting for him......for some people, however, this probably confirms that he's not ready. And, when you are running 3rd, you can't lose anyone.....

I agree with that. Luckily this wasn't in the debates, he would have looked terrible. If he does by some miracle make a debate, people aren't going to vote for him because he's the most ready, they will vote for him because they can't stand the 2 party system, can't stand trump or Hillary, want pot legalized.

I agree, it was a blow to his legitimacy.  It also made him fit the stereotype of a pothead, which is maybe the worst part for his chances.

I think the intent of that question was to expose Johnson by asking it in a way that was confusing or atypical.  The problem was that it not only worked, but Johnson couldn't even spin it into something intelligible.

All the libertarians needed to do was pick someone with a lot of personality and poise and they could be making this a true race.  Alas....we got Johnson again.

Yeah, we're getting Johnsoned every which way this election.

I think they felt the combined experience of Johnson and weld gave them some credibility. I think they are right, even though I'm not a huge Johnson fan. Still voting for him, but he lacks in some key traits that would really be helpful when running for president.

The party might break double digits in the popular vote, which would be a huge win. Perhaps it will allow them to start attracting better candidates.
