May and Meyer at the bottom of the list

With news Yohan Pino will be starting tonight for the Twins (despite a horrible start in Rochester) and Logan Darnell will probably start Saturday, many people are wondering why top pitching prospects Trevor May and Alex Meyer are aren't being called up. Well, it may be frustrating, but someday you will see them in a Twins' uniform (maybe even before they turn 30). However there are plenty of pitchers ahead of them on the front office's list of pitchers they want to see in the Twins' lineup, before May and Meyer. Here's a comprehensive list from an unnamed source within the Twins' organization:

Yohan Pino

Kris Johnson

Logan Darnell

Sean Gilmartin

Sam Deduno (phase IV)

Anthony Swarzak

Pat Dean

Tyler Duffey

Virgil Vazquez

Jim Perry (he's still got it)

Bert Blyleven (In the HOF for goodness sake)

Scott Erickson

Mudcat Grant

Carlos Silva (Silva! Silva! Silva!)

Drew Butera (if they can snag him in a trade)

Dan Gladden (career 4.50 ERA)

Bob Pohlad (mean slider)

Any of the Fox North girls (their curves are devastating)

Dave the Cotton Candy Vendor

Former mayor R.T. Rybak

Billy Mauer

The guys from the Carrier commercial

Wayne Hattaway (why not?)

Trevor May

Alex Meyer

Great list, but you left out an obvious one, based on past Twins' moves....Being a good organization guy, I think Mark Hamburger is also entitled to preference over the M & M boys, as well.

I think May gets the start on Sat, just my 2 cents. Darnell hasn't been as good lately.

Lavelle said he heard it's going to be Darnell... Whether true or not...

This list was really funny. I heard TC Bear is ahead as well.

TC Bear would have been on the list, but he's out with a strained oblique...

You are upset that Mark DeRosa is not on the list ahead of the May and Meyer, even though DeRosa did not pitch in the majors

In the spirit of the original post, maybe the Twins should keep their options open . . .

How old is that kid from Little Big League now? Or, uh, the "Rookie of the Year" kid? He struck out Ken Griffey, Jr. once.

Probably still too young to promote those guys from AAA. No walks allowed, just walkers.

Say, what is Jamie Moyer doing right now?

No, I just didn't find the post very funny. Though it is a nice change of pace from a bit of the doom and gloom.

I think May would have been an option if he hadn't just spent a month on the DL. Kind of silly to give a kid that is a prospect his first big league taste when he is rusty.

Meyer is a case where you don't pick the best pitcher but rather the best thing for his development. I think the Twins are more concerned about Meyer's arm than they let on and prefer him to be working on things where he might not try to find that extra oomph. there's also the issue of the 4.5 BB/9. Usually those numbers get worse at the MLB level so I can understand working on that in AAA before calling him up and potentially struggling.

This topic would have been quite funny if it was more relevant. Instead it's just another 'the Twins FO are idiots' thread.

This list is pure crap!

I've heard from a good source, a former teammate's cousin's roommate friend that Brad Radke is dominating in his slow pitch church league.

How could you possibly leave him off your list?

So we've got a nice run of Kris Johnson, Yohan Pino, and Anthony Swarzak starting a series. Who saw that coming at the beginning of the year?

I did, and I also knew that Logan Darnell would be starting this coming Saturday, because...consistency, or something

Fantasy Baseball Breaking News

Logan Darnell: Logan Darnell to start on Saturday

Kris Johnson was sent down after Monday's start, so the Twins need another arm for this weekend. Darnell tossed three perfect relief innings earlier this season for Minnesota and holds a 3.43 ERA over 17 Triple-A starts this year. The 25-year-old can be ignored for fantasy purposes

So...not much faith in the impact of the "Darnell effect"? Does that mean Twins fans should ignore Darnell for entertainment purposes, as well?

So when are we going to start talking about the Twins continual rotation of Pino, Johnson and Darnell on and off the 25 man to keep the extra bench bat?

I don't remember a team doing this for so long, it's been about a month now. I like the idea; even if it's been done to some degree before, the continuation of the moves is to somewhat innovative. Of course at the same time the players are getting jerked around and Rochester is getting snookered. Also, most of us would prefer May and Meyer were involved in this shell game.

Pino has been more or less permanent for the last month, and could still be permanent going forward (no idea who they are going to send out for Darnell). (I suppose if Danny Santana didn't get hurt back in June, Johnson or Darnell could have alternated with him before Nolasco's injury too.)

Probably not worth it for the bench bats we've been keeping. I didn't even notice Chris Herrmann was on the team for awhile there. Who else was on the 25-man during this time? Florimon? Polanco, briefly? Colabello? Our starting 9 position players are pretty weak as it is; if a guy is #5 or lower on our bench depth chart, he's probably not that good of a player.

They might get to the bottom of the list after all.

With a Hughes removed from the game, the always healthy Correia is the last man standing from the starting 5.
