    This. With a four run lead put Richards, Okert or Thielbar out there with the thought that if it gets close you still have your best guys available. If they were down 1-0 it wouldn’t have been Alcala, seems to rigidly scripted at times.

    I think you could add pitching 3 out of 4 days, against the same team no less, as a major contributing factor as well.

    If the players you are targeting are signed to contracts with other teams , the only way to acquire them is trade. Therefore cash in hand does you no good, you need the players.

    With another off day tomorrow, is not everyone available? Farmer has struggled terribly with the bat recently.. then again other than Jeffers the bench options haven’t been great either..

    This. It seems people seem to forget that there is something about a 40 man roster……. You can’t just keep everyone because they might be good in a few years.

    Not disagreeing with you I just picked a post to quote to add my two cents about Pressly, (to some I am sure 2 cents is an overpay). I think if the Twins knew they had the Pressly that he has been for the Astros they wouldn't have traded him for what they did. Whatever Houston was able to do with him in my opinion is akin to what the Twins have done so far with Martin Perez. I have to believe there are 20 plus GM's out there scratching their heads wondering why they "missed" on Perez. Houston knew what they were getting with Pressly more accurately than what the Twins knew when trading him. You win some, you lose some... In my recollection Pressly caused much consternation on these boards with his "straight" fastball. Now with his "tweaks" or "coaching" with the Astros he is the one that got away. All of this being compounded by the fact that the Twins are doing well and our glaring weakness is back end bullpen. I am over losing out on Pressly and excited about what we have going this season and look forward to seeing progress from the new regime. I know it is purely hypothetical and not how it works and why can't we have both... but how many here would trade Houston's Pressly for our own Martin Perez?? Go Twins!

    Not so sure it was a demotion as it wasa combination of being a victim of roster crunch due to Odorizzi's short start and trying to limit his innings....

    Not saying I agree with this but....With many of the same people calling the shots as were when Belisle last pitched for us, as a formidable closer, I am thinking they are hoping he has enough left in him to build some trade value....maybe they see something in his mechanics that need to be tweaked?
