    This. With a four run lead put Richards, Okert or Thielbar out there with the thought that if it gets close you still have your best guys available. If they were down 1-0 it wouldn’t have been Alcala, seems to rigidly scripted at times.

    I think you could add pitching 3 out of 4 days, against the same team no less, as a major contributing factor as well.

    If the players you are targeting are signed to contracts with other teams , the only way to acquire them is trade. Therefore cash in hand does you no good, you need the players.

    With another off day tomorrow, is not everyone available? Farmer has struggled terribly with the bat recently.. then again other than Jeffers the bench options haven’t been great either..

    This. It seems people seem to forget that there is something about a 40 man roster……. You can’t just keep everyone because they might be good in a few years.

    The better your system is and the more prospects you have is going to drop the number of players that come straight form AA considerably as your lineup will already be filled with young guys trying to make their mark...this is a good thing
