  1. I was curious about the system. CBA requires a Certified Athletic Trainer (ACT) to initiate the addition to IL but a doc must sign off as having examined player or discussed w/ACT who also signs it. Copy goes to Players Association office and player. CBA reads: "I, [ATC Name], certify that [Player Name] has an injury [insert injury] that requires placement on the Major League Injured List. The estimated time of recovery for the injury is [insert estimated time for recovery]. Dr. [Physician Name] has evaluated the player, or has dis- cussed the injury and all relevant evaluations with me, and agrees with the diagnosis and the estimated time of recovery. I have reviewed the above information, including the email review." cc: Player Players Association
  2. I immediately wondered the same thing on Ryan. Doc is supposed to sign off on these so IL isn't manipulated but .... Hope Keuchel is stretched out sufficiently.
  3. Listening to WSox game and radio booth announced Keuchel has signed with Twins. Ryan to IL w/groin (?) injury. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-dallas-keuchel-selected-to-mlb-roster/ Hope to attend 1st game he throws since I watched him at CHS. Has averaged 5.1 inn in 6 games.
  4. "Notable" in Dutch. Just doesn't cut it in English.
  5. Ouch. I know my attention now shifts to other division games/races to which I will listen. Lost a measure of interest in the Twins and other divisional games will carry more interest. Winter trade session will be tough. Buxton has healed as much as he will so he clogs the DH. Will need a CF. Kepler/Gallo gone. Can Larnech and Wallner carry the corners? No Lewis experiment in OF, please. Polanco's wheels are finished so they will have Julien working all winter on his defense. Kirilloff will cover 1st, Lewis at 3rd. How to work Lee in? SP: Gray gone, Maeda resigned. Ryan, Lewis, Ober. Will need another arm. C: Jeffers will get most of duty; saddled w/Vazquez thru '25. BP: Good grief. Your guess is as good as mine.
  6. "Good team" based on potential, but not based on performance which counts. While I love Lewis' enthusiasm for the game, it shouldn't take a young ballplayer to light the fire of a $163MM payroll-ed team. Something is amiss in the clubhouse and leadership present.
  7. Would LOVE to hear Francona's input into these moves. WSox have redefined a "bench clearing" episode.
  8. I am in the sell mode. Falvey has traded 17-20 (?) prospects during his reign (IMSM) and it has resulted in a .500 team 27-35 record against other teams above .500. Don't delude yourself into thinking this team is going anywhere. Forget the buys, sell free agents and live with youth. Re-examine minor league development program and hitting philosophy and training program to strengthen them. Find one strong SP during next winter's FA window as well as BP.
  9. Gibby pitching, Mon, 31 Jul. 6pm. Orioles vs Jays. Free game on MLB-TV.

  10. "“The Office of the Commissioner shall have the flexibility to set the Major League Trade Deadline on a date between July 28th and August 3rd.” Collective bargaining agreement. Why not Monday (since there are no day games)? Makeup games might have to have been scheduled on Monday, thereby leaving Tues afternoon as vacant so players don't get pulled.
  11. While I do not disagree with your premise, I have often wondered what speed pitchers were throwing in years before the radar gun. Is our (FOs as well) fascination with speed shortening the pitchers endurance as well as increasing injury? I know I am veering OT.
  12. Smiley Lynn to the Dodgers (was in Mille Lacs this weekend and didn't see till this morning). Know the Dodgers need help but not sure I want Lynn in my clubhouse. Call him the "Dodger Downer" now. Let's see. 6 teams in 9 years. What does that say? (Cards, Twins, Yanks, Rangers, WSox, Dodgers)
  13. 3 audible groans from Mille Lacs you should have been able to hear even in the cities. Hitting Kepler for a .259 Farmer, who is 3-1 on the day. Polanco (dependable in the clutch) and Castro (4-2 on the day) to follow. Keep the ball rolling. All 3 have higher career OBP than Kepler. Quit playing the big, unpredictable punch of Kepler. Hitting Gallo for Vazquez. Go for it - hit Jeffers, .281/.823. I needn't repeat Gallo's stats, or maybe I do for Baldelli. Getting 1 run off an 87-88mph FB. Good grief.
  14. Just hope that Levine can get some kind of governor over Falvey when Falvey's impulsiveness kicks in and gives away a ton of prospects once again.
  15. Gladden is the happiest of all. Just one Lopez to remember.
  16. Have other teams got his number now? Just got home and didn't hear/see HRs.
  17. He deserves a Greyhound ticket (strictly as baggage) but given the circumstances, I will pick up the tab for 1st class air.
  18. Appreciate everyone here. Everyone has something to say, lots is very instructive, and there is very little rudeness. Thanks. Let's play 2! db
