  1. I had the Cleve game on the radio. Tom Hamilton: They will take it down to the bone come the end of July, 2027 we will have a partial season at best. What season tix holders remain will head for the game and we will have 8,000 butts in the seats on a good night.
  2. I am wrestling with two issues. 1. Who are these players on the Twins? 2. What is the team identity? As far as (1) above, after last year's firesale and consequential gaining players, as well as the off-year dumpster diving, I find myself lost. As I listen to radio streams and dig thru box scores, I quickly scour baseball reference.com to figure out the ballplayer's college, minor league and MLB experience. Who are they? In past years, I would have to do this on occasion. But now? Spring training didn't help as ST is like an auto lot where they juggle what sells and what gets turned in. I. AM. LOST. With (2) above, there really isn't a club leader, a spokesperson I can lean on to get a sense of the clubhouse, how the club is responding to Shelton's leadership or what this group is going to be known for. Listening to as few games as have been played, it seems the club is as lost as I am. I am not trying to badmouth the organization. This is not a good club. What I am saying is that if I, a devout fan, am struggling with these "identity issues", they are going to have a heckuva time with a PR issue in filling those seats, pushing the paraphernalia, caps, jerseys. Anyone else in this rowboat as well?
  3. I follow the box scores and was curious how the Twins stack up with team hitting. 29th at .192, with only Cleveland below them.
  4. Great article from _The Atlantic_ today with an inside look at an author who was given $10,000 corporate money and asked to write an article after the experience of one year as a gambler. Mormon, church/family man, soon learns its underbelly. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/2026/04/online-sports-betting-app-addiction/686061/?gift=YHZ6SUNglKLvHr_WPw-MLM8Ab8HjkRJBNTkvZKcXXbU&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share
  5. I think I will stay home and turn the furnace up one degree, radio broadcast.
  6. Why in the world schedule a night game on April 4th. Cold enough at 1p let alone 6p.
  7. Hey Chief, when did the Air Force add another chevron above an E-9s rank? Just asking;, from a 4-yr SSgt-wonder...many, many years ago.
  8. and hear USAF 's mother-in-law jokes. <Grin emoji here>.
  9. I hate it. Every time I walk into a casino, I see social security checks getting poured in slots. Every time I see a relative working over his phone during a NCAA basketball game, I cringe. Every time I see FanDuel logo flash during a pitch on an MLB game, I sigh. Not some kind of moral prude. I am teaching my grandson to play poker and the reasonableness of friendly bets and purpose of money. I played poker in the service but would push away when the game got ugly; I watched craps but didn't roll the dice. Just see the desperation and false hopes to nowhere as impediments to well-being within our culture.
  10. .962 FA in career play in minors @ SS. Gray day, indeed.
  11. I had a long discussion with my physiatrist about Royce while she was trying to figure out the problem with my knee and back. How can such an athletic person be so injury prone? I also had Buxton in mind. She said athleticism is apart from injury proneness. She was unfamiliar with either one but said often athletes OVERDUE training programs, further aggravating an injury prone body. Or at least those are my takeaways from the discussion. AND she fixed this old body.
  12. I protested at NK Day with Veterans for Peace and am ambivalent, though I understand the sentiment. I watch SNL and the potshots taken at very serious events. I say, "Good for the goose, good for the gray gander."
  13. Mustaches don't grow old, they just play 1B for the AAA Worcester Red Sox.. Have the game on. 'https://www.mlb.com/player/mickey-gasper-681508 Announcer, "Another quality MLB player on this Woosox lineup." (Local groan),
  14. The Farmer lives on. I have the game on MLB.TV. He is playing 3B for the Braves. That signing got by me.
  15. A lock on under. Mortgage the back 40 and sleep like a baby.
  16. One of those stories I was hoping not to read. Have to root for the fellow.
  17. Someone will grab him. Catchers are in short supply, even the marginal ones.
  18. Ramos was forced to take the Yankees emblem off his cap while serving his 3 yr hitch in Florida jails. Wardens said, "No symbols." True, no BS.
  19. Say it ain't so, Jo (se). 'Blue Jays righty José Berríos has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right elbow and will not be ready for Opening Day, manager John Schneider announced to the team’s beat (via Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet).' attributing to https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/03/jose-berrios-stress-fracture-elbow-blue-jays.html I still listen to Jay games when he pitches.
  20. I think Plouffie believes T-3 to a degree, conditioned along with Plouffie's positive optimism and the seat in the broadcast booth. In my book, Plouffie is grading this team at a C+. I am going with a 74-88.
  21. Guy has more lives than cats do. No catchers out there. Pretty soon BP catchers will be signing.
  22. Too bad he can't be a steady voice on the radio and let Plouffie take over PBP and Molitor on color. Not looking forward to another year of Gabbie and Gladden.
