This is gonna be a repeat occurrence when the bullpen is full of guys that can’t miss bats and a bad defense behind them.

Yup. I think if you cut every one of them from the roster, Sands might be the only one to get a ML roster spot.

Orze was the team's best reliever coming into this game... of course, with only 11 innings pitched. There was probably a reason why the Rays traded him to us for very cheap.

Yes, because he is streaky and doesn't miss bat's. That 4 pitch walk to Arozerena forshadowed how inning would go.

This game really highlights that trading for Rays pitchers can be a mixed bag

Maybe, depending on how desperate another team is.

Peter, is that you?

Falvey set this in motion when he traded the top 5 relievers on the team.

Who in AA/AAA is realistically making this bullpen better right now? I keep seeing posts calling for the "reinforcements," and before we start converting any starter with a pulse and assuming the role switch will "unlock," success we don't know what's going on with Abel and it's still April....

It’s not like this should be a surprise to anyone. Never did a thing in the off-season about the bullpen(or anything else). Then T Pohlad stands up there and says we plan on winning…..these guys cant go soon enough. I would like to see a total reset starting with ownership/coaches/gm.

Pohlads have totally earned the poor attendance at the stadium.

You're probably right about it being too early in the season, but by the end of it I think at least two of Festa/Klein/Zebulon could/should be making their way to the pen

That’s the depressing truth. I was looking at the Saints pitching stats this morning and it’s not good. Get ready for a revolving door of waiver wire pick ups

Sure, they could very well end up in the pen if/when they flame out as starters.

In the meantime the Twins can't really afford to cut bait with SPs in the minors, and Idk if there's a single RP at either AA or AAA that's MLB ready. The notion of depth is massively overblown amongst this fanbase.

Yep, I'm not exactly locked into the day to day happenings in the minors, but just a quick glance tells me there isn't much of anything as far as MLB ready RPs.

That offseason argument about bullpens being easy to construct and/or being built on the fly is falling pretty flat right now, and I'll say it again, depth ≠ names to throw against a wall.

What exactly constitutes flaming out as a starter?  How long should they allow them to fail?  Festa's already 26 and Zebby will be joining him in a month.  They're not young young anymore.  I think they're squarely in the "ish or get off the pot" stage if they want careers as starters

Pohlads created the low attendance issues by starving the major league team of competitive talent. They picked the bad front office and continue to run Twins organization into the ground. Sell the team if you don't want to provide resources to be competitive. It's gonna be next to impossible for them to win fan base back. From sponsors to fans, nobody want's to support a group that brought this misery on themselves.

I would argue Zebby in particular has flamed out as a starter. Dude has a 5.91 ERA in St Paul this year and a career 5.92 ERA in 25 MLB starts. Put him on the Varland career path and crank up the gas
