Thanks for the laughs everybody. Cheifs corny jokes reminded me not to take healthy days for granted as dementia is looming around the corner.

This has been as disappointing a season as I can remember. The trade sell off was a bit much too much to believe but we will find out if it bears fruit or not.

Here's to a better season of Twins baseball next year. By better I mean better fundamentals, hustle and defense.

edit; hitting also

Getaway day line-up...

Martin, Jeffers, Lewis, Clemens, Lee, McCusker, Fitzy, Vazquez, Outman....

What bonus's did Buxton have coming up that Pohlad benched him?

My 1st thought too.

I would hope Baldelli asked Buxton whether he wanted to play or not.

I thought I'd heard that he just passed  plate appearance bonus a day or two ago, which would have been at least the second earned bonus this season.  I don't believe that the next bonus level was close enough to attain today in any reasonable or realistic scenario.

553 plate appearances, or some number close to that.

I would hope the number was unattainable, especially if the narrative is "we play to win every game".

Other bonuses seem to be tied to where he finishes in the AL MVP voting.  I would certainly think he'll get at least some down ballot votes there.

567 PA was the next bonus.

I would hope a professional athlete would never say he did not want to play...

He definitely wasn't going to hit that today.

Buxton ?   you say you love to play ball ?  why cant you at least D.H. ?  IF THIS IS ALL ABOUT REACHING BONUS MONEY ?  Byron needs to come out and for the  FANS =   Geez at least lead off the game , tip your cap and see ya next year , -----   B.S. ALL THE WAY AROUND,

Baldelli writes out the line-up card, not Buxton....

It’s a meaningless game played on the road. We can invent milestones for him to surpass, but it’s probably just as well to get one last look at someone like Outman.

Given Buxton’s injury history, I’m just glad he can go into the offseason healthy.

Guessing it was Rocco's choice to not be in the starting lineup.  And, for the record, Buck was the DH yesterday.

you go ahead and  believe that,   so Rocco told Buck to sit today ,   this is Byrons decision to not start and Byrons only ,   actual writing - yes thats Rocco ,  Buck playing or not if healthy is Byrons call !!!!

Mentioned elsewhere, but Michael A. Taylor announced he's retiring after today.  White Sox have him in the starting lineup, batting ninth naturally.

I always sensed a quiet dignity about him.  His hitting was usually the weak part of his resume, though "he had a little pop."  But he could beat the other team with his glove, no moment was too big for him, and for the right situation that could be enough.  He earned a spot in my heart when he bailed out Louis Varland with his catch at the wall in the '23 playoff against Toronto.

Michael A Taylor?  For me, he'll always be Michael THE Taylor.
