Twins Minor League Report (9/21): They Say That All Good Things Must End Someday

Earlier this week, the St. Paul Saints announced their 2025 award winners. Outfielder Carson McCusker was named the team’s MVP. Travis Adams was named the team’s pitcher of the year. 

Congratulations to each of them! On Sunday, the Saints played their final game of the 2025 season. (I’m not crying… you are!) 

This also marks the end of the Twins Daily Minor League Reports for the 2025 season (seriously, not crying!), but we’ll be back in 2026. Don’t worry! 

Of course, we will also again have a weekly update on how the Twins prospects are doing in the Arizona Fall League. We'll be watching those winter league box scores to see how any Twins are doing.

Did You Know? RHP Ruddy Gomez and IF Dameury Pena were drafted last week in the Dominican Winter League draft. Gomez was the seventh-round pick by Tigres de Licey. Pena was the 13th-round pick of the Gigantes del Cibao.

Last week, we announced the 2025 Twins Daily Short-Season Minor League Hitters and Pitchers of the Week. Our votes are in for the full season awards, and we’ll get those articles posted this week.

As you know, the daily minor-league reports are a staple at Twins Daily. You’ve come to expect it and we sure enjoy writing it. There is a great group of commenters who read the report daily, discuss fun topics (or not-so-fun topics), and ask questions. We really do appreciate you, and your input.

A few solo home runs were not enough to earn a win for the Saints on Sunday. In fact, it wasn’t enough to reach the number of runs that they gave up in the first inning. After two straight wins, the Saints dropped their final game of the 2025 season. 

Andrew Morris made the start for the Saints, and he’s been good since returning from the injured list, but on Sunday he was hurt by the long ball a couple of times. He gave up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Two runs came on a Matt Lloyd homer. In the fourth inning, he gave up a solo homer to JJ Wetherholt. In total, Morris gave up six runs on seven hits and a hit batter over the first 4 1/3 innings. 

A rehabbing Anthony Misiewicz got the final two outs of the fifth inning. Noah Davis and Brooks Kriske each threw a scoreless inning in relief. Trent Baker gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in his inning. 

On offense, the Saints had just five hits. Jose Miranda had the lone single. He ends the year hitting just .195 with a sub-.600 OPS with the Saints. Walker Jenkins had the lone double, his sixth since joining the Saints. 

The team went just 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. However, the Saints had three solo home runs on the day. With two outs in the second inning, Aaron Sabato hit his 14th Saints homer of the year. He ends his season with 23 total homers. That marks his career-high, topping the 22 he hit in 2022. 

Jonah Bride led off the seventh inning with his fifth Saints home run. 

Leading off the Saints ninth inning, Kyler Fedko hit his eighth home run for St. Paul. It is his 28th overall home run of the season. He also had 38 stolen bases. It is also notable that it is his first career home run on his birthday.

As an independent team, the Saints had a proud tradition. Neither Manfred nor the Twins could have destroyed them alone, but together, they were unstoppable.

The minor league reports are my go to on TD. Thank you to you Seth and to all who put together these summaries. Hopefully, there is still a way to watch the minors next season with all of the evolving issues with media. I watched way too many games this summer and enjoyed them.

Andrew Morris seems like he could make a move next year. He hit 99 mph on the gun a few times and was regularly at 96-98 mph with his fastball. Now he needs a little more movement and refinement of his other pitches. He was often a victim of bad defense and luck. Today, Morris just ran into a couple of barrels. Morris lacks the exposure to MLB, but otherwise is pretty  similar or maybe only a small step behind Festa and Matthews. All of these guys need stamina. 

Gabby Gonzalez didn't play the last few days. Was he injured?

Fedho had a fine season and I'm looking for him, Walker, Emmanuel, and Gabby to show themselves next March. At least one of them could/ hopefully will open in the Twins outfield.

And with that the twins minor league year is over. A lot of great performances and a lot of guys who in my mind broke out this year. Fedko has been one of those shining examples, the guy really does feel like he really figured it out. I was hoping he'd somehow get that 30/30 season, but you can't say his final number was anything to scoff at. I really do hope he'll be a guy we'll be talking about as a valuable member and sign of good things in the future on the MAJOR league team by this time next year

I've said it before and I'll say it again, to quote singer Carly Simon, "Nobody Does it Better" than the Twins Daily staff when it comes to minor league coverage for the Minnesota Twins.   Outstanding work TD!   Lots of names to look forward to and see which ones can crack the opening day roster and future Twins lineup.  Personally, Connor Prielipp (Who mysteriously is NOT on your Who is the Twins best pitching prospect? question) is one of the names I'm excited see more of next year.  Thank you Twins Daily.

A little bit of a bummer than Morris' last start was a dud, but it's the only bad outing he's had since coming back from injury in August, so he seems like he's on track. If the Twins hadn't added both Bradley & Abel, I think we would have seen Morris in MLB in 2025. As it is, I'd be very surprised if we don't see him at Target Field in 2026.

Fine season for Fedko. First time he hasn't needed a second pass at a level in order to perform well, and that seems important for him. I think there's fair concerns about both his floor and ceiling in MLB, but can't ask for much more from his performance this season. You'd think he'd get a long look in spring training with all of the LH outfield bats we have.

Looking forward to seeing where the prospect ranking end up, and the AFL reports (and any winter ball sightings) to get some minor league fixes. Hope springs eternal, and it begins with prospects.

Thank you Seth and to all the writers at TD.  In a year that turned too far South, way too early, your reports have been so important.

Good seeing Jenkins getting another double yesterday.  I really believe this guy is special and will have an impact for the Twins next year.  Along with all the young players on the current Twins who should improve next year, there is hope for 2026.

Fedko needs to spend the winter working on taking ground balls and his foot work at 1B.  He could find a role as a 1B/OF.

Thanks for the hard work on minor league reports. I didn't used to read these, but I started at the beginning of this season and haven't missed one since. There are 4 great young outfielders in AAA that deserve a promotion early 2026 in Fedko, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, and Jenkins. I am excited to see what happens to all of them. Lots of new players in the Twins system who will have a chance to prove themselves at their various levels in 2026
