  1. I’d move Buxton to 1B. Maybe there will be less wear and tear on his body. Lots of older players make the move (Mauer, etc) and the farm system is loaded with outfielders. Lewis has shown he’s not viable. I doubt they resign Bell and the team doesn’t seem to think Sabato will be a major leaguer.
  2. I’d wait a week till after the Braves and Padres to implement these changes but you’re right on the mark. OTOH, if Martin goes on the DL, might as well see Jenkins Monday night against the Braves.
  3. All this to remedy the Varland mistake. But Hoffman is very good and wouldn’t be here unless the Jays have Louie. Shows how dysfunctional Falvey and Joe Pohlad were.
  4. The only logical things to do are to trade Larnach and Jeffers for immediate pitching help if you can get it. Then you have to hope that Jenkins is ready and Caratini/Jackson wasn’t an illusion.
  5. They tried Jackson in LF during spring training. I would not be surprised if they did it again against a LHP. It may not be a great idea, but it wouldn’t be the first one they’ve had.
  6. If the team is finally serious about defense, then Lee probably needs to be at 2nd. Keaschall and Lewis would both fit better at 1B though they can’t both make the move. It’s great to see Kreidler at SS.
  7. I’d be playing him at SS everyday. Even if he can hit .220, he’d solidify the infield. Lee can play 2nd and let Keaschall play 1st with Clemens. I don’t really understand why the Twins are so willing to give up on defense.
  8. “Management malpractice” may be this year’s “total system breakdown “. If the Twins could turn a double play the way this writer turns a phrase, they would not be headed to last place
  9. I was dreaming that our GM called the Cinncy GM during the recent series and offered Larnach (and someone else/cash) to the Reds for Spencer Steer. Twins could use a right handed 1B/OF and the Reds need a left handed bat. Oh well it was just a dream. Now I’m dreaming that Keaschall moves to 1B, Lee to 2B and Kreidler to SS to improve the defense. A guy can dream can’t he?
  10. I saw almost no signs of life from his bat, which is especially concerning given how hyped up he was about Shelton as manager. Lewis is a very fragile player mentally so when he’s happy and not producing, that signals big problems.
  11. The Whiteys spent some money this year on moves the Twins could have made-Dominguez, Hayes, Murakami (sp?)-while it’s hard to see where the Twins improved at all. Remember the Sox outplayed the Twins after the fire sale. When one organization is trying to improve and the other isn’t, don’t be surprised when Chicago finishes ahead of the Twins and there’s another fire sale in Minneapolis.
  12. When you consider the several up and down seasons under Falvey, you realize he was just an average baseball executive. That may be better than what comes next, but who knows? In the meantime, good-bye and good luck.
  13. Articles like this make no sense and add nothing to the conversation. The team is about as likely to sign Valdez as it is to trade for Ohtani. Do better.
