  1. “Management malpractice” may be this year’s “total system breakdown “. If the Twins could turn a double play the way this writer turns a phrase, they would not be headed to last place
  2. I was dreaming that our GM called the Cinncy GM during the recent series and offered Larnach (and someone else/cash) to the Reds for Spencer Steer. Twins could use a right handed 1B/OF and the Reds need a left handed bat. Oh well it was just a dream. Now I’m dreaming that Keaschall moves to 1B, Lee to 2B and Kreidler to SS to improve the defense. A guy can dream can’t he?
  3. I saw almost no signs of life from his bat, which is especially concerning given how hyped up he was about Shelton as manager. Lewis is a very fragile player mentally so when he’s happy and not producing, that signals big problems.
  4. The Whiteys spent some money this year on moves the Twins could have made-Dominguez, Hayes, Murakami (sp?)-while it’s hard to see where the Twins improved at all. Remember the Sox outplayed the Twins after the fire sale. When one organization is trying to improve and the other isn’t, don’t be surprised when Chicago finishes ahead of the Twins and there’s another fire sale in Minneapolis.
  5. When you consider the several up and down seasons under Falvey, you realize he was just an average baseball executive. That may be better than what comes next, but who knows? In the meantime, good-bye and good luck.
  6. Articles like this make no sense and add nothing to the conversation. The team is about as likely to sign Valdez as it is to trade for Ohtani. Do better.
  7. Twins can’t be that good at developing players-4th place 2 years in a row in baseball’s weakest division.
  8. The Pohlads are just bad business people-simple as that. The old man made a fortune as a vulture but the family has shown no acumen since then. $44m invested in the S&P in 1984 , with dividends reinvested, would be worth more than $4 billion today. If you can’t beat that running private businesses, including a baseball monolopy in an affluent market, you should get out of business and just be a passive investor.
  9. This was well done but it would be even funnier if it weren’t so close to true
  10. I want to salute all the loyal, diehard Twins fans who wrote in about this extremely low wattage move. It’s obvious they care more about the team than Falvey and Pohlad do. I wonder sometimes if Falvey makes these moves just to pull the fans’ chains.
  11. Based on these moves, I’d suggest the Twins are a last place team unless they add at least 3.0 WAR.
  12. More product placement than a James Bond movie. Nice work.
  13. I like Andujar in a platoon with Clemens but my preference at 1st is to trade for Jonathon Long of the Cubs who’s blocked by Michael Busch. Maybe Mick Abel or SWR could bring him over.
  14. Great piece Nick. There’s so much work to do on this roster I can only wonder how the FO let it get so bad. Cutting payroll doesn’t speak to the glut of LH OFers and others who don’t offer value (Gasper, Julien, etc). It just looks like FO incompetence.
  15. I’m guessing he’s been instructed by Falvey to not use the term “rebuild.”
  16. Kelly is not a free agent. He signed a 2 year deal last year. Ballesteros is weak defensively but the Cubs are very excited about his bat-much like they were for Schwarber when he came up. Amaya is a good all around catcher but hasn’t stayed healthy. He might in a platoon with Jeffers
  17. To the Cubs for 1B Long and catcher Amaya or Ballesteros. Accept nothing less
  18. The Twins sure don’t care about creating excitement for the fans do they? Someone on these pages suggested Rowson with Ron Washington as his bench coach. I thought that was a fabulous idea. And Tori Hunter sure would have been fan friendly. Now my optimism for maybe a $120M is gone. This move suggests further payroll cutting to me as the team moves closer to becoming the Pirates 2.0.
  19. Clearing rosters spots this year should be incredibly easy. There are 9 or 10 names that don’t belong anywhere near an MLB team.
  20. The only lesson to be learned from the Polanco trade is that it should not have happened. Falvey is incompetent and TD writers rarely say it. Cleveland sure hasn’t missed him. The reality is that he was a cheap hire based on his potential, not performance. He’s just another Twins prospect who didn’t develop.
