  1. There are absolutely trades the twins can make that wouldn't end up sacrificing much. Even on the Major League level, even a guy like Cody Lawyerson, who fans might argue isn't really a guy the twins plan on being a major player for the foreseeable future, could probably net something(he was claimed on waivers last year by the angels before coming back here, so there are teams that could probably think they can work with a guy like him). Plenty of teams will absolutely take chances on debatably major league level talent for holes the twins might want to fill like their bullpen. The Rockies just did this trading away Angel Chivilli, who had a 7+ERA last year as a relief pitcher to get TJ RUMFIELD. The twins have areas where they have lots of guys in high minors all fighting for spots they aren't a top priority. If people are imagining a world where Jenkins, Rodriguez and Buxton are the primary outfielders, what does that say about the other like 5 outfielders in St. Paul who are all playing well enough to potentially be seen as big leaguers? I bet there is even a team that'd take a Kyler Fedko if they think they can unlock that last level for him. Don't have to trade the whole farm for holes the twins want to fill, but I'm saying there are definitely pieces the twins could probably test the market with that wouldn't make a huge dent in their prospect pool or their major league roster.
  2. Just an annoying one, Yankees only had 2 opportunities with RISP and managed to get 5 runs. Twins had 12 and couldn't get anything done
  3. wind stops pushing the ball out right when the twins start hitting it towards right...
  4. another 3-2 paredes start with Funderburk up to pitch... getting some deja vu
  5. got a lot of whiff that inning and would've had 2 strikeouts that inning if they challenged that close one against mcmahon, but oh well. would've been a nicer outing overall if not for the 2 out unlucky break in the 3rd
  6. they're probably going to have Paredes go for 5 no matter what happens
  7. well, they at least got one back, this is still a very winnable game
  8. well if cole is coming out for the 4th apparently, the twins could probably take advantage of the delay
  9. would've been a quick inning too if not for the unfortunate bounce off the bag, it's just kind of spiraled after that
  10. now the bounce off the base is even more unfortunate
  11. would've been a quick 1-2-3, unfortunately it hit the bag
  12. Paredes will still be pitching the 3rd inning
  13. gameday says the game is going to resume soon
  14. first rehab game, probably just want to see him hitting first then will probably catch in his next one depending on how he feels after today
  15. way the broadcast made it sound, they're trying to set him up properly as a reliever, trying to put him in less clean innings to get him used to higher leverage moments
  16. hopefully it's not too long, having to rely on the twins bullpen for 6 innings doesn't give too much confidence
  17. they're wearing cole down, but outside of the solo home run, it hasn't really led to much
  18. now that the scripted Grisham return home run is gone, surely the yankees will go quiet from here
  19. Lucky for Paredes today, the Yankees aren't as pesky and annoying when it comes to chasing as the Rockies are and whiff more than they do too. But they do hit the ball the hardest out of anyone, hopefully he's learned some things after having to deal with one of the more annoying teams at the plate.
  20. It's absolutely for the best he stays up, sure you could keep him in St. Paul to build him up for longer outings if you want to use him as a starter in case of future injuries or a possible trade at the deadline, but some of the metrics in St. Paul obviously didn't carry over to the majors yet. His Sweeper had an insane 45% whiff rate in St. Paul with a 41% chase rate while so far has only been able to get 23% whiff in the majors with a 34% chase rate. His other pitches have actually managed to tick up in whiff rate in the majors which is an interesting development, but the almost half drop with his sweeper has led to his overall whiff rate dropping. Having him in St. Paul I don't think will improve how he works his pitches in the majors, letting him face major league level talent and working on the right way to use his stuff to fool batters is the only real path to let him develop properly. I don't think his current issue is a stuff issue, it's a matter of optimization at this point and sending him down to face AAA batters won't improve that.
  21. I do think he is a few tweaks away from really breaking out. His stuff has steadily been profiling better across his appearances alongside the fact that he's going longer into appearances, and his velocity was up yesterday across the board too. Just something needs to be done to improve his approach against guys to really optimize the use of that stuff. I think a team as aggressive as the rockies was a good learning experience despite what the rockies' record suggests, they were going after everything he offered(43 chase% in Saturday's game) and you could see one wrong choice would get punished quickly
