Agree totally but also the team is not going to compete for a while so the closer is not as impactful as it would be on a contender

Don't need a closer if you can't score runs.....but I'd be in no hurry to deal him. Must get blown out of the water, and then some.

Anyone wanna revisit Rocco having Duran pitch a second inning last night??

I wanna revisit setting it up for Jax to close.  He's one of the last arms in the pen I want closing a game.  Ever!

OR NOT LETTING BEEF THROW A 2ND INNING -HE WAS ON FULL REST - INSTEAD HE BRINGS IN LOUIE FOR 2 WHO THREW THE NIGHT B4 ,   How the hell do you walk Ruiz  ?????  and Bader did have it in the glove also ,  total choke job  by all involved

Damn. Jax's trade value just plummeted.

After what we saw the dodgers relievers do in this series, I think they’d still be interested 😂

Oh, the Dodgers are interested. However, the price? It is down.

Agree, Topa could have been tossed out there last night.

But Jax can’t puke on his shoes either

I also dont intentionally walk the tying run into scoring position, and the winning run to 1st, either.

I don't care who is at the plate. Ohtani, or Babe Ruth..

I surmised at the beginning of the game that the first manager that goes to their bullpen will lose.  Both bullpens have been extensively used over the last week and especially in this series.  Rocco went to the bullpen first.  Roberts trusted Glasnow to get one more inning even though his pitch count was much higher.  Both teams have a day off tomorrow so we can't use that excuse.  I think it is true that the Twins have a better bullpen than the Dodgers right now, provided they are deployed correctly.  That's where the flow of the game comes into play.  Roberts just has a better understanding of the flow of the game than Rocco does and we saw it on full display today.

And the reason it was Jax?

BS. Trades are never made on the very last performance. Never. Whatever the value is, it is still there in whole.

But considering who was on deck, I do it every time

Jax should have went after Ruiz instead of trying to make him chase something, he obviously wasn't swinging, especially after ball 2.

It would have been a highlight reel catch had Bader made it, looked like the ball, the glove, and the ground all met at the same time.

And I wouldn’t.

Fair enough.

It IS one of those sort of unwritten managerial "rules" though. You just rarely see it.

Still and all, the bigger problem was needlessly not having Duran available today.

And there's no doubt who is responsible for that.

This was Griffin Jax's seventh game in which he lowered the Twins' win probability by at least 25%, the most by any AL reliever.

So you’re saying it hurts to lose the lead in the bottom of the 9th? Lol jk

And people keep saying dealing him means they can't compete the next two years and should just blow it up. One RP isn't the make or break for any team, especially this one.

Way too many fans will fixate on the check swing because it's easier than acknowledging that following that pitch 4 straight hitters reached base, one of whom (Ruiz) can't hit, and never had to even take a swing. That's called choking. This game wasn't stolen, the Twins gave it away.

Game shouild have been over. Check swing was a strike. Umpire missed such an important call. Coiuldn't pull the trigger. They DO change games.

THANK YOU....absolutely. Someone on TD the other day was saying they don't.  Door swings both ways, but it will be a better game with ABS...100% ABS or none I say.

Stewart is looking to come in for the 8th.  Surprising a little as this is usually Jax's spot with the middle of the order coming up.

Seems like a premonition to disaster for me.  I was surprised at the time and still befuddled now as it turned out about how I would have expected.  I didn't understand why Jax wasn't out for the 8th.  Could have used Stewart for the 9th or even had Duran warmed up in case someone got on base for a specific hitter (Ohtani or Betts comes to mind here)

Actually I would have thought losing the lead bottom 9 would lower your win probability by MORE than 25%.

Turns out Jax is actually doing well there.
