Memorial Day Weekend

I had to put that heading in there in case I forgot what it was I was writing about.

They (the ubiquitous "they") say the first thing that goes is your hearing. I think. But it isn't true. The first thing that goes is... wait a minute... has something to do with... Oh, memory!  That's why I mentioned Memorial Day.! Got it. Forgetfulness sneaks up on you. First you can't find your car keys, then you wonder aimlessly room to room wondering why you're wondering room to room, next thing you know you're standing out in your front yard, the car keys you just found in your hand, wondering which vehicle on the street is yours.

But it ain't all bad. The good part of memory loss is you can't recall if the Twins won yesterday or not. In effect, the Twins season starts over every day. No baggage.

So, let's not forget why we have a Memorial Day. Take a moment or two to remember those whose sacrifice made it possible for us to enjoy Apple Pie and Baseball.

Hurling (not that kind) Today

Twins: Ober  4-2  4.40

Rangers: Urena 1-3   ERA 3.29

No line-ups yet. I think Vazquez is going to lead off. He's 0-5 against Urena. Keep the base paths open.

Mean and funny.  Me likey.

There's lots of good ones out there but we've always favored Schmidt's (in Nicollet) sausages. I believe WCCO annointed them as the best sausage joint in the state a few years back. We drive 70 miles to get their meats. Their Maple beef sticks are something to die for (my wife prefers the teriyaki ones). And their summer sausage... get yourself a stick, some colby cheese, ritz crackers, a six-pack of Grain Belt and you're all set for some heavy sports action.

Memorial Day Weekend

Not just Memorial Weekend?

I was pondering the history if the holiweekend, And saw it came together following the Civil War, when probably we wanted to remember both sides of the conflict.

This also the time i tend to ponder Tom Lehrer's song commemorating WWIII. And the other one about mutual assured destruction. I'll probably also get a WOPR at Burger King.

Pleasantly surprised to see Santana sitting. Maybe it’s AK’s chance to save his spot on the roster?

Probably is. We need another CF by Sunday and Keirsey is tearing up AAA. Maybe Keirsey up for Margot or Kirilloff over the weekend?

Didn't Santana sit Wednesday (until he was inserted?)

Yes. I have raised an eyebrow that Santana hasn't been in the lineup for two straight games. Minor injury or maybe AK's last chance? Smooth has a .569 OPS vs. right handed pitching, so there's that.

Wait, what happens Sunday?

Great start. Let's just spot 'em two.

Great, now they have 4.
