Great to see Buck hitting the ball to right and right-center.

Was thinking that after the first one. It's always been his key.  The way the ball jumps that way for him a pull should be a mistake.

So Buxton takes an outside pitch to right for a homer and a ball right down the pipe to straight away cf for another. Great. My question is fans who have been clamoring for this all year are asking. What took so long? Was this because of a players only meeting? I sure hope not. Or is it just a coincidence. These are things he's been working on and it's paying dividends now.

Just tuned in. Patrick Corbin looks awful. Has he been this bad all night? I know he's been one of the worst starters in baseball since he signed the big contract, but this is worse than I realized.

You just made one.

I've lately been playing around with asking ChatGPT questions.

Tell me a new Flip Wilson joke.

ChatGPT:

Flip Wilson's humor remains timeless, but since he passed away in 1998, there aren't any "new" jokes from him. However, here's a classic Flip Wilson joke for you:

"I told my wife the truth. I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist. Then she told me the truth: that she was seeing a psychiatrist, two plumbers, and a bartender."

Another reason why fully guaranteed contracts are a bad thing, he wouldn't be starting if he weren't being paid a guaranteed amount.

I do feel sad about the whole situation with Corbin, though.  The Nationals were trying.  Other teams bid, so they had to go high.  And for the first season it was a good signing.  Then he lost it somehow.  But not due to obvious injury - it's not clear he has missed a start the entire time after that first good year.  He answers the bell each time, he "owns" it enough to continue in a game like tonight's when it would be easy to find an excuse to walk off the mound.  I'll never feel too sorry for someone earning that many millions of dollars, but it remains a sad situation.

The Nats are really letting him take his lumps tonight.

Speaking of odd Corbin situations, was looking at Corbin Carroll the other day. Woof. Another odd one, hopefully short term.

Hadn't noticed.  Uffda, indeed.  I am sure, though, that Diamondbacks Daily is full of helpful and constructive posts that will help the young man find his way forward.

Welp, just tuned in again- hey, hey!  We've got a lead!

I had the day's headline already in my noggin, but maybe the Meeting paid off!   To wit:

"Twins hold players-only meeting, decide baseball is just too hard.  Team votes to shift registration from MLBPA to Pipefitters Local 539."

But maybe they can put that off for a day. 🤔

An exciting 23 year old signing $111m deal and turning into a pumpkin is bad for the game any way you cut it.

No...I suppose not. Just old guys like me who remember them. Here's another:

His delivery and timing reminds me somehow of Jerome Lester Horwitz*, not that the latter was especially known for jokes and monologues.

*Curly Howard of the Three Stooges, just to save anybody a Google search.

Actually probably not. I looked all over their boards for any Duran regrets a while back and nobody cared. They are probably worried about Carroll but it didn't seem like that kinda place.
