If we don’t have someone who can pitch to the 4,5,6 we don’t have one that can pitch to the 1,2,3. Could just as easily lose it in the 8th as in the 9th

Giving Duran 1-2-3 in the order makes great sense in itself. 

 

And you just saw the additional reason it makes sense. Duran pitched in the one-run situation and Jax will have at least at a two-run lead. 

Otherwise, Jax gets Guerrero down a run and Duran gets the easier two-run lead.
